She landed in the middle of the cluster (they stopped 2 feet out to debate the merits of being out), then scurried to the edge. She launched herself from the roost both Silver and Pear were on, from within 12 inches of them.
Wow. That's impressive.

You know where to reach me if you need to talk. :hugs I am devastated for your loss but so happy Phyllis & Sylvie look like they are going to form a pair. Not the same I know but something is better than nothing.
You are so kind. Thanks so much. :hugs :hugs

That's cold even for us and it hits that in deep winter!
These temperatures are not unexpected for us in November, December, January and February. I don't really mind so much on the days that I don't have to start my car, but it isn't great for the chickens. I won't be letting them outside today.

Luckily I had a pot of tender grass that I grew for them so that has kept them occupied. I also gave them some dried grass that I collected this summer. I cut and dried it for just such a day. Next I will take them some fresh straw to scratch through. I am glad it is the weekend, so I have time to be a chicken enrichment planner! :)

We interrupt this program to share this:

I don’t really think the hawk is a jerk. I just don’t like that it disrupts free range time.
I had to stop watching your video as the Princesses had come out and then got spooked by the noise of your hawks on video! I am happy they spook at the sound of a hawk but I don’t want it to become a ‘cry wolf’ situation so I will finish watching when I go inside again.

Good idea!

Minnie is steadily replacing her red breast with a striped pendant. She is also growing a real tail!
