I do remember but will go back and re-read.
The question I am weighing up is whether to build more nest box capacity somehow, or whether this will be an issue regardless of how many boxes there are to choose from.
I have 9 hens of laying age, 1 more reaching that age on another month. 10 nest boxes in 2 horizpntal rows with 3 dirt pots embedded below those. They still squawk over boxes, 1 occasionally lays on the ground BEHIND the pots and the other day I had 2 eggs on the ground in separate random spots with another broken. The broken one looked like it bounced off the edge of the lower bank of boxes. At a guess: 3 pullets all wanted the same box occupied by a 4th (2 eggs in A box). eggs dropped unexpectedly as they're still figuring the whole thing out.

I have a nesting box problem.
Sorry for the long video. This is Maggie repeatedly hauling Dotty out of the nesting box. This pattern repeated every 20-30 mins throughout the day.
- the box in question is not one Maggie has ever used (it is the one Dotty uses)
- Maggie never went in a nest box all day except to eject Dotty.
- Dotty didn’t lay an egg.

I am not sure what to do. I am considering adding a lidded kitty litter tray to The Chicken Palace as an alternative nest box area. Or should I just let them sort it out?
When you said ‘long video’ I was expecting it to be 12 minutes or something like that! You could offer them another alternative and see if they take it.

Let me help with that!

This is the song that never ends
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it,
Not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
This is the song that never ends.....

I would love to see a picture of that set up if you don’t mind sharing

Leave them to it. Fat Bird used to evict the more junior hens on a regular basis.
Other senior hens in the tribes did much the same.
Has Dotty gone broody in the past?

There is a lot of truth in it doesn't matter how many nest boxes you provide, they will all want to lay in the same one.

Lilly's Pain Treatment

I almost forgot @Shadrach I'm sorry.

It is called Endo Blend for small dogs. It is Phytocannabinoids and Beta-Caryophyllene. 385mg/30ml.

Dosage is 0.25 ml for 2.32 kg so about 0.1 ml per kg.
Thanks Bob. Stuff like this is good to keep a record of.

No, Dotty has never gone broody.
From what you observed in the video do you think it is a dangerous level of violence? I haven't seen any blood on Dotty though she isn't the easiest to examine because she attacks me if I get too handsy because (as previously posted) I am clearly a long way beneath her in the pecking order.

Ok. For putting these songs into our heads everyone owes tax. I expect them to be special photos as well. At least mine was a tribute and included photos.

I was trying to do something sweet as I could truly feel their affection for each other the other day and wanted to share that with you all. What do I get for my troubles, horrible songs stuck in my head. I expect your best possible tax payments, @LozzyR and @rural mouse
