There is a lot of truth in it doesn't matter how many nest boxes you provide, they will all want to lay in the same one.
This is what happens here. I have added a third in the house a fourth in the run and two more in the Cluckle Hut and they all still wanted to use was best box #1. You have all seen the videos.

They are so funny that way!
But this is different. Maggie is not wanting to use that nest. First she is not really laying and secondly when she does she never uses that nest. So this is not a fighting over who gets to sit in the best box situation. This is more like "I will make sure you cannot use any box".
Very strange.

Oh yes I remember now. That gives me ideas. I think my issue is that I have so many perches and roosts there is almost nowhere that I could put an open nest and it not get filled with poo.
I don't want to take out any perches because they really love them. They sleep on the big roost and then in the day come in for a natter and a preen and use the day perches. They look out the window and get advanced warning of any activity in the driveway that might indicate a treat delivery.
I need to think this through some more - maybe I could construct a little roof to protect them.

Ok. For putting these songs into our heads everyone owes tax. I expect them to be special photos as well. At least mine was a tribute and included photos.

I was trying to do something sweet as I could truly feel their affection for each other the other day and wanted to share that with you all. What do I get for my troubles, horrible songs stuck in my head. I expect your best possible tax payments, @LozzyR and @rural mouse
I was trying to counter the shark. Introduce Eve to Lambchop and Charley Horse (besties in their own way)

Nellie got the flash this time

I've seen pics of plastic totes, lid on, with a side/end cut out . They get lined with something for traction, can be stacked, and set anywhere. the clay pot nests haven't been used, but i buried the bottom half in the dirt floor, thinking of the dirt box idea. I've got banana boxes too. They've never used those as nests, but the make great obstacles for littles to hide behind. I may have to make a roof for the clay pots...
🤔 Run with the tote idea and take out the bottom too....
