Happy Friday everyone, I'll go out later to get some fluffy butt pictures. Thought I'd give some observations on Chiquita after her first day here. She is a wild little hen, I do not think she was handled that much. I'm really going to have to work hard on taming and building trust before she can free range. If she were to escape her enclosure now, I would have a really hard time catching her. Another thing I noticed is the way she eats, I know when it comes to food all chickens eat like they have not saw food in a week, she takes it to a whole new level. Everything I've offered her she inhales. I was told she was being picked on by larger members of her previous flock, I think maybe they didn't notice and she may have been low on the pecking order and being run off the feed too. Had to run out to the store yesterday and since I'm going to be spending a lot of one on one time with her I picked up a big bag of already shelled sunflower seeds and a big bunch of banana's just for her to bribe her into trusting me. My grandfather went with me to pick her up the other night and he came up and informed me that he decided she was his chicken and therefore he thought he should get to name her. I like the name Chiquita but to humor him, when he's up she will be called Charlie. Yup, he wants to name her after him.
