It is dawn. I am eagerly awaiting a Phyllis-Betty update! By the way, did you name her Betty or did she come with that name?
Sorry to be a worry-wort - but I think Frizzles have a harder time keeping themselves warm so you may have a similar issue to the one I have with dotty later this week.

Never Say Never

Does everyone remember when the plan was to obtain 2 of these lovelies to put into a coop with Phyllis and start a sub tribe? I had 2 reserved and then a dog got into the chickens and killed a bunch of them. My friend decided that those remaining she would keep for herself.

She texted me on Sunday. She is pregnant and decided to get rid of her chickens. Somehow she had placed all of her chickens but one. Would I take it to be Phyllis' friend.

At first I was reluctant. Things have not gone well lately. Mrs BY Bob pointed out that the universe was providing a solution to the Phyllis situation from a trusted source. So I agreed.

Everyone say hello to Betty.

@BY Bob,

I can see that you are holding her well, unlike your tribe that just roosts on you....but she does seem calm (and she doesn't know you at all).❤️ ?I'm hoping she is super friendly, too?:fl:fl

❤️I have to say, you already look like a proud Daddy holding her ❣️ 🥰👨‍👧❤️

Nope, me neither.

River is sick again. 😭 I’m still trying to clear the gunk in her throat, but the last two days she has been very subdued, napping standing up and not interested in any food that wasn’t oats. I’m going to get some baby bird food into her tonight for some nutrients, but maybe she’s got another infection. That’s the reason we’re getting frizzle bantams; if she dies and I lose another in quick succession, I’ll have one left on her own and I’ve had a lonely hen before.
Oh Lozzy. I can't understand why you can't get her normal flora reset. That must be so troubling. :hugs :hugs

Yes, that worries me too - but they are all roosting 'solo' so I think if I move her after dark it will be OK.
I have one of those oil-filled radiators but it isn't designed to heat a full room let alone one with masses of ventilation. I might plug it in for the others - but as luck would have it Dotty roosts as far away from a flat surface as it is possible to get, so while it might help the others (who probably don't need it as they are fully deathered), I don't think it will help Dotty.
It is a really unusual situation - it almost never gets this cold - for my county we are breaking records - and she is half naked which is really badly timed of her.
It will not be as bad to separate her at night. Better that than she suffer in the cold.

I've been adding probiotics to the water to speed up getting rid of the oral thrush, but it doesn't appear to be working. :( She picked up a fair bit; started laying again and was very enthusiastic about digging holes, but the last two days she just seems to have slid backwards. We're due to see the vet on Monday but not sure if she can hold out that long. I'll get some baby bird food into her and see if that helps.
Let me know if she is eating or not when you get the baby bird food.

She seemed very friendly last night as we checked her over. She stood well on my arm. She did not like Mrs BY Bob and her bright light though. 😆
