Wonderful preening party! And Betty, cute little devil, non-chalantly takes a couple of steps closer...then preens a bit more before settling down for the night!

Phyllis: Whatcha doin'?
Betty: Just fixin' my feathers
Phyllis: yeah, gotta fix mine, too
(Betty cautiously takes a couple of steps closer to Phyllis)
Phyllis: Hey, whatcha doin;
Betty: Um, nothin'
Just wanted to turn 'round
Phyllis: oh, yeah, gotta have the good side showin'
hard having to always worry 'bout that
Betty: (preening again) yeah, hard work bein' pretty.
Makes me tired, gonna go to sleep now
get my beauty rest
Phyllis: yeah, me too...just a couple more feathers to put into place.....

I think that might be worse. After all they have decided to sleep separately for a reason (I have no idea what). She will be plenty warm enough in the garage. I have a small heater in there to stop the pipes freezing. Looks like it keeps the top of her dog crate at about 38F. Now I am worrying about her adjustment down to 10F in the morning!

I'm keeping mine in until it warms up to more than 10°F

earlier i asked @BY Bob if i should bye a smalle coop but he told me its better to build my own coop and now im building

Yes. I thought the same. I think when I wake up I will turn off the heater for the pipes so the garage temperature drifts down to the mid 30s in the early morning just to reduce the shock a bit.

And how special are Betty's pink legs? These two are such fashionistas.

Her legs are very cute but they are pink because it is so cold and the blood is rushing to them to keep them warm. Phyllis' feet turn pink first then her legs.

That's why everyone is in the garage tonight.
