Something is Up with Lilly

Check out what she is doing. Part of the time she is a normal chicken and then she just stops and sits like this. She was free ranging like normal a minute before she sat down here.

I am concerned to say the least but she is not leaving her friends and going to roost like Hattie. I will give her tonight but I may need to act tomorrow.
I see her tail pumping a bit. Might she be egg bound Bob?

I think you need to check for egg binding etc… she looks like she’s struggling to pass an egg to me… definitely give her a thorough check!

I made a prediction about a month ago that I felt Baby would lay her first egg before Corona did based on comb development. Both girls the last few days have been scoping out the nest spots. This morning I noticed Baby desperately trying to get into the porch nest boxes while for once both were occupied. On a hunch I carried her out to the pen where Chiquita lays and locked her in for privacy. It was not long before Baby began singing the song of her people, which she did for a solid hour. In Chiquita's nest was a perfect speckled pullet egg. She took after her momma Clover when it comes to eggs, brown with dark speckles.
How wonderful! Congratulations!
Any chance of a picture of the egg? It sounds really pretty.

The puffiness bothers me. :(

What could the black poo indicate? Apart from something they have eaten. Has she been doing this for a while?

Considering a number if the other options, a random infrequent egg would be one of the less concerning outcomes… I recently had an eggbound hen I had to help on… her third bound egg in a month, and I couldn’t seem to help her pass it as we had the previous two. She was suffering quite greatly though, Lilly just seems to be straining. Some lubricant may be needed either way.
