Baby has me scratching my head in confusion. Her first couple eggs were like Corona's, brown and speckled. The last 3, no speckles and are the color of my cochins, a light creamy color. What the heck has happened? I know these are Baby's eggs and not the cochin girls as she is also laying in the porch box. With this new development, I will not incubate her eggs when the time comes. If she goes broody, I will give her someone else's. She has a permanent home here, but is now part of the layer flock.

Ok I need some warm weather, so calling on my neighbours to the south to send me some nice warm humid gulf weather

I am so done with with winter! My poor chickies took one look out the door yesterday evening and ran back inside squawking up a storm at me, as if I can fix the weather!!!!

I would love to help but… as you can see we had a slight weather pattern issue here too. Rainforest… tropical paradise, temperate… my chickens said “heck no!” So weather whining taxes may have to wait until this afternoon when the “white stuff” is gone. And it had better be gone by afternoon…

Well I would like to gloat, but I know you're having enough 'fun' out there. So I shall commisserate with you - at least you will get mild tho! Not so here it seems.

My poor chickies are very glum, and I have been calling home to remind mum to 'check for eggs' so they don't freeze.

This time last year I never had a thought on how to deal with stopping eggs from freezing!! Or what chickens ate, or roost height, broody bunch, and randy roosters!!!

Chickens LOVE grapes, it is dogs shouldn't have them nor raisins. There are some wild 'champagne sized' grapes growing down the road from us, and when they are ripe, there is always a bunch of wild birds in the vines and on the ground eating them.

All the grapes we have in UK are imported and heavily sprayed, so I don't even eat them so I definitely won't be giving them too my chickens. Currents seem to be okay here.

Can I go ahead and lodge a formal complaint against Ezzie. I get her out several times a day, clean her brooder, feed and water her. Who is her favorite person......Rosie. Rosie will get her out as soon as she gets off the bus, and once before bed. Ezzie will spend the whole time perched on her shoulder. I'm lucky if I can get her to sit for a minute or two on in my hand.

What's with chicks arrival? Any news I can't wait!!

It's freezing up here, we had snow earlier but not sticking luckily the sun came out so the girls were happy to brave the temperature.

They had a good drink of warm water before going too bed and I've made up their warm bottle in the pillow case to keep them extra toasty. There's no drafts in the coop so all is well

I think it is the actual tomato plants, as in the leaves that are not healthy for chickens. The tomato fruit is fine. My Rosa absolutely loves tomatoes and she is going strong!

From what I have read they shouldn't eat the plants, but the fruit is fine. They happily destroy our plants when they can, by digging around them and or just trampling, but I haven't seen them actually eat the leaves.

I always cut grapes up, I even cut especially large blueberries, whole fruit with the skin on is harder to break down and can cause blockages.
