@RoyalChick I think it is a bit cheaper on amazon (?$5?). Yes, still pricey, but IF you end up liking it, probably worth it. Hopefully there will be a sale soon. ????
Yes, unusually it was cheaper on Amazon which is where I ordered.
Initially I thought it was just ‘fancy looking’ but once I realized they really have innovates the design I felt better about it being more expensive. I am OK paying them a reward for designing for people like me.
Now I have made the decision I am excited to get it. They are estimating March 4-7.

I didn't think you should feed chickens grapes..? But then again I was told chickens shouldn't eat tomato plants - which my gang did boohoo wrecking my tomato yeild!
Chickens LOVE grapes, it is dogs shouldn't have them nor raisins. There are some wild 'champagne sized' grapes growing down the road from us, and when they are ripe, there is always a bunch of wild birds in the vines and on the ground eating them.

Quote from petmd.com

"Grape toxicity in dogs can cause serious kidney damage that can lead to acute (sudden) kidney failure, which can be fatal. The exact toxic substance in grapes is unknown, but it’s believed that it could be the inability of dogs to metabolize flavonoids, tannins, and monosaccharides from the grapes. "

Lilly Update

The vet called at 7:30 pm tonight to discuss Lilly. She was consulting on Lilly because because the lab results showed nothing abnormal.

Nothing

After consultation, they have determined that they believe that Lilly has colitis. We are going to do another dose of time release doxycycline and put her on Metacam for inflammation. I will be taking her to the vet for 10:30 am to get her shot.

Overall, provided they are correct, this is a good diagnosis. We can cure this.

What a relief!

The Iron Beak is not done yet.

You'll have to let us know your thoughts on it once you start using it. I don't (yet) have power out to my coops, but hoping :fl to by next winter. (This constant lugging of water - both for drinking and my overnight heat source got old 2 years ago!) You can be my official tester!!:lau:thumbsup

Growing up with 7 brothers I now see was a blessing for Corona. After laying her first 2 eggs she decided she was going to run the gauntlet and join in the porch box shenanigans. All that fighting with her brothers to become top of the pecking order as a chick prepared her to take on the biggest bully when it comes to egg laying Raven. Raven can throw every other hen out of the box except Corona. If Raven gets to the box first and wants to be stubborn and cause a back up after she's laid her egg, instead of waiting and squawking, she climbs on top of her. Raven really does not know how to handle a hen standing up to her. Corona was a little spitfire of a chick and as a young pullet she's still as feisty as ever.

I will be waiting to receive your review of it. I hope it fixes all the problems.

Excellent. I love a hen that takes what she needs. Well done Corona. 👏

I also love her name. 😍

Can I go ahead and lodge a formal complaint against Ezzie. I get her out several times a day, clean her brooder, feed and water her. Who is her favorite person......Rosie. Rosie will get her out as soon as she gets off the bus, and once before bed. Ezzie will spend the whole time perched on her shoulder. I'm lucky if I can get her to sit for a minute or two on in my hand.

Nice surprise from Corona this morning. She's upped her speckling game, went from being covered in small dots to some nice large splotches. Now if she would just give me eggs with a few more of those big splotches I would be very happy.
