Song birds are back in force. There is lots of pleasant singing in the yard.
Does this mean the hawk has moved on? There has been no sign of it for weeks. Could we be that lucky?
Continuing on with the news......
Our latest story concerns the Iron Beak. Imagine how excited I was when I caught her pooping this out. Hers is in the circle. I don't know whose the other was.

Based upon that, i ready to pronounce her cured. I do want to weigh her to see if she is back down to normal for her.
In sports today, we have video of everyone enjoying a nutritious snack of eggs and rice, except Betty. Watch her sprint over when I call her.
Well said!I sometimes forget that this is quite a public forum and there’s sometimes a completely random reader that might take things out of context though, so thought it would be good to put that little disclaimer out there!
And yes, between the lap chickens, House Roosters, and all the snuggly chickens some of us (@featherhead007 I totally am talking about you!) here have, it’s easy to forget that they can be quite wild. It takes a lot of love and work to build the pet relationships with such independent little feathered dinosaurs. Of course they are much more intelligent than most people give them credit for, and sensitive… but they can also be absolutely brutal to each other!
I still occasionally snuggle my Sammy, and have a particularly close relationship to the odd hen.
Those are definitely some serous spurs. They could be useful in a bad situation.I do believe that Teensie and Weensie may have stopped laying, with all the egg eating it’s quite hard to tellbut another promised “I should get some pictures of that…” actually happened yesterday, check out the Spurs on these ladies! I now believe I know where the “horn” in leghorn comes from! And these girls are only 1/2 Leghorns! (Assuming breeder was accurate…) please excuse Princess’s not so fluffy butt in the background.View attachment 3014764View attachment 3014776View attachment 3014784
Luckily all the items I get are locally sourced thankfully... Big thing here is gas prices!!I've managed to get a good amount of dog food and really bulked up on chicken feed and bedding. I must get a load of cat food now incase we have shortages due too this situation flaring up here.
I wondered that with my dogLuckily all the items I get are locally sourced thankfully... Big thing here is gas prices!!
I told my gassy horse I need to 'harness' all that flatulence!!
Still wondering if chickens get flatulence...![]()
Yes Jaffar is a GemI wouldn't be here if I thought for one minute people here supported fights.
I don't think I could deal with their squabbles so I only have my girls.
If they were all like Jaffar I would rethink
Isn't that the sweetest. It is Saturday and I am retired so I decided it was OK to sit in the chicken garden and do the crossword puzzle.
I heard contented noises but couldn’t see any chickens until I looked almost under my seat and found this.
She did not burp, she was a lady! How dare you!Sure she did, but she did it very quietly!![]()
