I'm sorry you are coping with this. I know how you feel.
Maggie is so lucky having you , she's got for now and will have the very best you can give her. :hugs💓
Thank you Marie, but Maggie has successfully defied death for some time now - that was a post that is now 18 months old.
I do constantly worry she will just drop down dead on me - but so far she is showing little inclination.

Maggie
I hope you all don't mind but I am going to post some pictures and videos of Maggie over the next few days as a pre-death memorial.
It seems she is just too ornery to die even though the vet says she will soon and offered to euthanize her.
But we agreed she is still enjoying her chicken life and so there is no need to end it today. The vet is only about 20 mins away and can euthanize her at short notice if her quality of life goes down.
Meanwhile, she seems to be enjoying herself.
He gave me a few things to look out for if she is feeling unwell, and in the meantime I plan to spoil her rotten. Corn? Meal worms? Banana? Blueberries? She gets whatever she wants!
Here is to you Maggie - a life well lived however short.
Vets are only human and we all make mistakes. Maggie has proved that

Twofer Tuesday!

Why on earth are the chickens on a trailer full of nasty spikey wood? Because I was unloading it… sometimes I worry I might be getting a little large on the burn pile. DH said “that is THE LAST load you are putting on that until we light it!” As you can see I’m still making it bigger here… I don’t thing he realized just how much junk I got on that trailer!

Of course I had even more help, the whole way through unloading… the only reason you don’t see 60 some odd chickens in that shot above is they all followed me away from the trailer “the human is walking towards the treat bucket!!! Better than junk wood scavenging, quick follow her!”

It’s frustrating trying to unload with so many helpers trying to get underfoot. I need to get enough wood on this one to actually melt the glass and metal down decently, my last attempt yielded junk like this… if at first you don’t succeed, add more wood, gasoline, and try again!
