I can breathe now and quit throwing Jynx out of the way. My Tarheels are headed to the sweet 16. I am the only one happy with how March Madness is going in my house. Everyone else are die hard Kentucky fans....and they got to cry Thursday night. I've been a North Carolina fan ever since my dad got me hooked on college basketball when I was 12.
Is Jynx not a fan?

A friend of mine gave me a wonderful gift. It is an old book - printed in 1881 in NY. It is called 'Barn Plans and Out-buildings'.
It is full of diagrams and building plans. There is a whole chapter on chicken houses. This is one of the more unusual designs.

And here is a design for providing heat during extremely cold nights using an underground stove.

Re: renter - not sure of US but here in Cnd if you can prove you are moving to you property, one can ask the renter to leave, need the give a certain amt of time - maybe swap locations ....?
I’m receiving many good ideas from you all, and I really do appreciate it. Thank you.

Good catch. That is a very purple comb.
If she’s a meat breed rescue it’s quite common to see problems like this. They really aren’t bred to live more than the 8-12 weeks to harvest, and are specifically line bred to grow very quickly and very large. In trying to keep holdbacks to introduce some size to my flock from various Ranger type Hybrids, I usually select for strong legs, reasonable body conformation/size, and I keep them on a fairly restricted diet with exercise. If there’s scratch involved… it gets put out away from the curvy girls and they have to hustle to get over to it in time to get some, or at least make their way across the yard before a second helping goes down. I haven’t had a meat breed make it to 3 years yet, I’m hoping some of the Sassos might. Keeping these breeds alive is a real challenge, especially during summer. Of course she may have just done something strenuous… this purple tip on my Barnvelder Hybrid boy happened right after an altercation with the jerk squad. It faded over the next few hours and his comb went back to normal red.

Gotta love that it’s all us Canucks yelling at you to build a wall… 🤣 yep… the moving idea sounds good if you can make it work, if course
If you’ve got a good tenant you don’t want to lose them, but there’s also doing what’s best for you and your own family. You could always give notice, move in, then rent out your current place to someone else if needs be, it’s all a lot of hassle. But it sounds like your local area hasn’t treated you or the feathered fam very kindly the last couple of years. Missing Rooster, jerks teasing the chooks, neighbour tree trimming drama.

Not to mention having Chaco and the chickens co-located.
