Grey doesn't exist. Lavender is every feather is same shade (whole feather). Blue is feather patterned in shades of gray or has dark/light shades on body. If Storm were black/white or black/gold, the feather pattern would be laced because feathers are edged in darker tone. Because it's shades of grey, it's just blue. Because the head is dark and body lighter, it's also blue.
Oooooh! I will probably forget and get confused again, but that explanation makes sense. Thank you!
One more question. Why aren’t the Roadrunners ever described as blue? This one looks pretty blue to me!

When they randomly pass out flat on their beaks and sleep looking like they have just keeled over, but actually are just napping until you go to pick them up?
Yes. That has given me several heart attacks and it isn’t even 24 hours yet. Also they fall asleep standing up and then just keel over.
They are so tiny I worry I could break them by accident. Though I think they grew overnight so am feeling a bit better.

Glad others have rediculous cellular companies 😡

Bell Canada sucks!
My service (free for low income folks) is switching networks. I checked with them and the new carrier that my phone was good, bought the new sim card, my phone isn't compatible. They are sending me a new free phone which will be a downgrade from mine. While the new phone ships my current phone has no cell service. So I am without call/text until the new one arrives.

When I first bought my chickies they went and flung themselves down on their sides with a wing over their head and i freaked out - I had no idea what they were doing! Hmmm seems sunbathing!

And then dust bathing... Omg I thought it was having a seizure!

And then my silkie chicklet was walking dragging her belly on the ground after fluffing around in dirt and I though for sure she had injured herself.... But it was just her feathers full of dirt and it weighed her down, she shook out a pound of dirt and was walking proper after wards 😆

Yee gads ! Not only do I have my horses to worry about now but also my Chickies! Who knew chickens were as much stress and drama as horses!

@rural mouse it turns out taking close up pictures of combs is not as easy as I thought. Little wrigglers! Also, I have a chipmunk photo-bomber.
I am starting with the blue one. I swear that comb wasn’t there this morning. It looks straight to me based on your description of how to tell the difference. I think I see little ridges. So cute!

While I was still outside Dotty stopped by for a chat. Her comb is looking good I think. Just a tiny bit of black and a tiny bit of pale swelling on the second finger.
I did post this earlier but on some random other thread by mistake.

Storm is simply gorgeous. 🥰

So I get that Storm is Blue. Hattie is lavender. So is lavender simply light blue? I will have to get my mind around lemon!
More pictures coming soon for breed guessing purposes. I stayed outside with the big Princesses who are loving the new freedom thy have from the expanded electric fence.
The babies have been asleep but are waking up now so I will subject them to a photo shoot.
Zoom in on Storm and Hattie. Storm's feathers are edged in a tiny rim of darker "blue". Hattie's are the exact same shade all the way through. Don't worry about lemon at the moment. It's pretty new, used rarely.

The grey tone is more because they're black and white barred (magnifying glass on the feathers will show distinct) with hen color breasts. Without looking up what the roos would look like, Iwould expect their breast color to be either black or light barred (like a barred rock rooster: white with black lines)

This is great - thank you - I am learning a lot.
