They are so darling!I got some new pictures of the chicks this evening after I cleaned their brooder. They are growing fast. Ezzie is 5 weeks old and the others are 4 1/2 weeks old. We are in the middle of a cold snap at the moment but Wednesday it is supposed to be back to 70. If it reaches that they are taking their first field trip outside for a hour or so. Soon they will be ready to spend their days outside and come back in at night. They still like to give the camera evil looks.

You're doing a fine job looking after these little onesI got some new pictures of the chicks this evening after I cleaned their brooder. They are growing fast. Ok… so I’m in a 1997 RV and we have a propane stove/oven. I still have to fix the stove top but I have won the battle for the oven! It took a couple hours of fiddling though because of the awkward space. I have ceded the under sink, oven, and fridge drawers and cabinets to the mice. They also now hold the furnace (though I spray foamed the heck out of the ducts into the RV from it) space under the bathtub, and bathroom lower cabinet. I have won back our sock drawers and the water heater area below them.Mice go everywhere, sadly. Mouse-proofing an oven / stove oven is very difficult, unless you have a good way to do it? I would love to hear. Mice will even - likely, my family was told - get in through the open burner tops of gas stoves. Maybe one can put hardware cloth around the burner below the top? We had mice set up house in the insulated walls of the stove at a summer-only cabin. You couldn't heat up the oven without a terrible stench. We chipped in and replaced the (very small) stove rather than tear it apart and rebuild it, though that was a distant possibility.
Love the corvid defence strategy! Good crows! You could try giving them treats.A little better today. I'm sitting out with the girls right now. It's OK when the sun is shining but we had a thunder snow storm a little earlier and I had to go in.
A short time ago a red tailed hawk came by a little low but the crows ran it off.
It's so windy I have the BB gun with me today for protection. Hopefully I don't shoot my eye out.
I wish I could get them to stick around but they come and go as they will.Love the corvid defence strategy! Good crows! You could try giving them treats.
Some of the Roosters know their names and come when called, a few of the Hens too. Jimmy not thinks the “what’s that” is what dandelions are called… oops. But if you need to remove the dandelions from your yard I now have a goat rental service… lol he goes crazy for them! And today Arduinna broke her tie out cable… I’m not sure how or how we are going to fix it until DH goes in Tuesday for shopping. We got some new to us harnesses from a local dog momThis is very smart. I have taught mine to associate their name with treats. About half will come individually now including Betty already!
