Ok, so I was pretty close here. I didn’t realize the “light” I referred to is actually splash and the “dark” is black. And it’s only when blues are bred with blues that this happens. If blacks and splash are mixed, all offspring are blue. Lavenders are always blue, as I said before.

However, I’ve learned another new thing! I always thought my Lucky might be a “fake” blue laced red Wyandotte. Now I understand that it’s probably just that her blue is splash.

If you bred her with a black roo, all her babies would be blue. Some would bleed the red, some wouldn't, and the blue could vary a bit in tone. to a blue roo, some would be blue and some splash. a splash with red bleeding would be pretty. She's a beautiful lady, love the wyandotte curves.

Wait!!! Look at Little Mill’s baby legs… they actualky look yellower there than when she grew into her white/pink legs.

Maybe RC already HAS given us a hint by asking about her speckles? RC, haven’t you always had a “thing” for Little Mill?
I do have a thing for Little Mill - but no, sadly the Hooligans do not have one like her.

That's how chicks are supposed to be!🥰🥰🥰🥰 Endearing and aggravating all at the same time:lau. (unlike human teenagers who are just aggravating, their 'endearing' time was earlier.):p
(Note, I work with teens...I am partially serious and partially joking..)
I have teens. You're entirely correct. I think some of the aggravation is so that you WANT togst them out of the house and on their own.

Speckled Sussex? Here was Little Mill as a wee chick.

Hmm, lil Mill shows speckling on her wing feathers aleady, even though they are barely there....unlike chippy that @RC has. So, though the legs and the eyeliner look right, I'm sticking with my unlikely guess.

I have a human teenager, wow, it is so hard to say that. I'm blessed to say that while we have our moments for the most part I seem to be doing my job right. She is a caring respectful young lady who is focused on her grades and her animals. I'm really going to want to cry and feel old come May when I have to say I have officially a high schooler.

high school seems to bring out the worst. They usually start settling down after that, but some take longer than others, and a few never do.

On the Speckled Sussex discussion: it appears the Speckled come in pretty quickly. Nox and Mera are only about a week older than RC's hooligans
