If you bred her with a black roo, all her babies would be blue. Some would bleed the red, some wouldn't, and the blue could vary a bit in tone. to a blue roo, some would be blue and some splash. a splash with red bleeding would be pretty. She's a beautiful lady, love the wyandotte curves.
Thanks! You are a good one for breed knowledge for sure!

On the Speckled Sussex discussion: it appears the Speckled come in pretty quickly. Nox and Mera are only about a week older than RC's hooligansView attachment 3039459View attachment 3039460
Ok, I must be remembering wrong.
Here is Little Mill at about 18-ish days old.

Interestingly, Ruby, my late Buckeye, also had subtle spangles at that age.

Well, seems the hawks are back. I was at my house (I moved in with hubby when we got married, my house is rented) yesterday meeting with a realtor and doing some of the spring clean-up. Hubby let the kids out to free range while I was gone. ..and locked everyone up last night. I let them out this morning, and one group is short a girl...one of my reds.:hmm I go looking around and see a 'puff' of red feathers about 50' away from their pen. 😢 I come in and ask hubby if he heard any ruckus while they were out...'oh, yeah, sometime around 6pm there was.' Did you go out and check? 'No. they settled down after about 5 min."🤦‍♀️ Guess my idea of 'supervised free range' and his are slightly different. :( No offence meant to you guys out there...but 'aaarrrrgggggghh, husbands!' What ya gonna' do🤷‍♀️ I love him, but sometimes he needs a :smack
Oh no!!! I am so very sorry! 😫

My husband wouldn’t dare do something like that, at least I hope not for everyone’s sake, including his! 🤣

My official guess for the black and blue chicks were orpingtons. The chipmunk chick could be a jubilee orp. That being said, I'm going to hope she found someone close and the black chick is actually a clean leg Marans.
OMG, Jubilee Orp is one of the breeds I drool over!

There are some breeds I would love on the chick list available next Saturday here, as well!

A update on my grandmother. Her stubbornness is driving us up the wall but it is ok. Everyone is right it is better for her to be stubborn. We have 2 dr appointments in 2 weeks and we will know a lot more then. What we do know now is the MRI showed narrowing and partial blockages to the vessels on her brain. There is nothing they can do for that but start her on blood thinners. They also confirmed either dementia or early onset Alzheimer's. She says she is going home but the hard truth is she cannot live by herself any longer. It is either with us or a nursing home which as long as possible will never happen. One bright spot is she keeps asking all kinds of questions about my incubator and how does it work. Well, I need them like I need a hole in my head but she wants to see chicks hatch. Mom told her fine, she had to complete 4 weeks of in home physical therapy here anyway that Monday she would have me set every egg I had collected and I would teach her how to use it. In 2 days I've gotten 22 hatchable eggs and have not collected yet this morning. For the moment that has stopped her saying she has to go home.

Dark Cornish. One of the 'old English Game' breeds. I don't think they are quite as 'wild' nor 'aggressive' as some of the others....they weren't 'good in the ring' so to speak. Unfortunately, their claim to fame is the 'cornish' half of the Cornish Rock Cross. They are stout birds with a wide, full breast. The hens are somewhat heart-shaped looking at them from above.❤️❤️❤️
They are very pretty! 🥰
