Great idea!Does she have to see the eggs before you break the shells? Can you refill a commercial carton to put in the fridge as her "store" eggs?

Beautiful girls. They make me think of Ruby!Mugshot Monday early because I'm out here with them (they had some brussel sprouts for the first time, loved them) now and I can't count on myself to do it tomorrow! They had a short rest and preening party.
Butters, Popcorn in the back and Peanut on the right.

Hazel on the left, solo shot. She nabbed some oil from Butters gland when Butters' feathers were all up. More interested than anything I think, she was tasting it, and then looked down at her legs and seemed about to preen with it, but then didn't. She tends to appoint herself Chief Inspector in all things. She stays close by when I'm petting someone who has squatted, looking front to back, doing some pecks here and there, checking out the other's rear ends too. View attachment 3039816
Be still my heart!!!Blue Copper Marans and my blue crosses hatch out as Blue penguins. Here is a hours old Blueberry.

Hahaha I sympathize with you, having a bad back sucks, and coughing is just evil with one!!Lol DH makes fun of me but ever since I threw my back out years ago (coughing) I always, always brace myself well and usually grab something solid for coughing and sneezing.
Those not pictured were laying eggs, uncooperative, or had moved on before I had the idea. Oddly, Thing's black doesn't have the beetle green effect that the others in "silver" have. Wonder if it's because she was a yellow chick: making her white dominate white (don't really understand the difference, but speculating)All this genetics talk had me examining the tribe more closely, so I'm doing Monday Mugs with a twist: feather mugs
Storm with the Blue, dark edged

Pear, Partridge pencilling very crispView attachment 3040636
Side by side Twirp and Nellie, both with hen color (roos have dark/black breasts), both started as classic chipmunk. One went silver, one gold. Silver has the green/purple shiny on the black, gold doesn't.
