Egg laying is such drama. My gosh these hens. 😆
😰Well, if you were miserable and had to lay, you would be grumpy, too, & want WHAT YOU WANT....like pickles with ice cream...or the best nest box ever!..Really, who wants to settle for 2nd rate when you have to lay?? 😰(and that pointy thing is turning around SIDEWAYS between your hips that aren't really wide enough for it to turn around between....) I'ld probably squawk and make a fuss, too🙄

Here is a almost fluffy butt pic of Ezzie. I love silkie chicks at this age. Of course mom claims right now she's so ugly she's cute.

In a sign of things to come they now prefer to eat off the floor so they can dig for their food. This morning they are only going to the food dish in order to replenish supplies in the shavings.
And when they are scared they go up not under. They don’t flee under the heat plate - they go up as high as they can get.

Can you adjust the orientation of the food dish...in the picture it looks sort of oval (not sure, only a partial shot of dish)? If so, putting the longer edge facing the heat cave might help?? Just a thought.:idunno
I like this idea better than a night light. Orient something so it is long ways towards the heart plate.

So it's taken me a little while to complete another video; I fell down an animation rabbit-hole and it's taken me a bit to climb back out. Nevertheless, here is video number four: "Portrait of Danu".

And my chicken tax. It's still Fluffy Butt Friday!

Wow! Lovely.
I watched/listened while spending time with the chicks. The music caused them to stop peeping!
I couldn't tell if they liked it. They weren’t scared, just interested.
