As I am working from home today I figured I would let the gals out, as soon as I did a hawk flew overhead circling... Run run run!

Oh they are so dense! No sense of urgency, well the blackbird chased the hawk away, so I let the gals stay out.

Just now the hawk was again flying overhead, this time lower, thankfully the raven chased it off, and that was that. I brought the gals back I side.

Now I have to get a run up this weekend, can't risk hawks, etc...
I had a red tail hawk here all morning. Scree, scree, scree, and the chickens were so nonchalant about it. I had to stay out with them to make certain nothing bad happened. Finally the crows came by and it moved on.

Six weeks! If it wasn’t for Bernadette’s leg I think they would be mainly out of their brooder by now.
Yup, they look 6 weeks old. Are they getting more sunshine and grass today?

Not today unfortunately because I am only here for a few hours and I prioritized letting the big ladies out to roam.
I am about to summon them back in.

That's too bad. A couple of rainy days coming up.

Yes. But maybe, just maybe, Bernadette will be better by then. She didn’t have much fun on their last day out because she just sat in the cat carrier.
:(

I don’t know if they have a pecking order at their age but Bernadette seems to set the tone for the group. If she is being left out she bleats pitifully and the others come and sit with her.
