I absolutely agree! In my experience here, the roosters really settle down in their 3rd year. They may be great watching over the hens year 1 & 2, but they get a 'maturity' and the hard edge of hormones has worn off ( just normally horny, not aggressively so) in the spring they turn 3. Much calmer, more confident, and much more gentle with the ladies.

Mine are generally very quiet, however lately Sydney is back to signing the egg song. This has been happening since Lilly passed. I can't tell if the two are related but it seems like she is looking for an escort to the rest of the tribe. Syd is loud too. Very loud.

Well Bunny spent over 24 hours inside shrieking at everyone who walked by on her spot on the couch. I just put her outside to much complaining so she can go relieve herself and eat. I have the living room window open and will see how long it takes her to come back in. If she is still determined tonight, I will fill up a box with hay and place it on top of the couch in her spot and set her. Guess who she has not screamed at like a banshee if they speak to her. Yup, Grandma. She is allowed to talk to her, pet her and give her sips of water out of a cup.

Well now Grandma has to stay with you… who else will take care of Bunny?

2 more years....his hatchday is end of May, putting him (and PITA, Blanche, Thing, Twirp, Cuckoo, Jess, and Nellie) at a year old then. Pear will be 2 tag end of July, and Silver is 3 this spring. Storm won't be a year until mid July. Thanks to the fox, Buster (Silver hatchmate) and most of Pear's hatchmates got eaten. Rusty was a hatchmates and went with the dog. At this point, I need roosters to survive. Cheetah is such a little guy, theres promise in his agility. One day at a time. One day closer to past the ding a ling stage...

They got my response. They are still locked in. We drive a hard line here when dealing with disgruntled employees.

Didn't you at least give them a consolation prize? I mean really, you could have at least pulled up a chunk of greens and tossed them in the run/complex!

We have had steady rain all day. The hooligans were released again late yesterday evening after observing that the orp chick that was limping was running around just fine. Due to today's weather almost everyone has been sensible and remained under cover. Almost everyone....the hooligans, well, I'll let these pictures speak for themselves.

Ezzie looks like a drowned rat. It is not supposed to stop raining until about 6. I will definitely have to bring her in and blow/towel dry her off before bedtime.

Wow, they are getting to that gangly, almost teen stage! *Sigh* kids grow up so fast these days.
