Well it took over 11 weeks but it finally happened. Mom was sitting with the horses with the hooligans all around her when she hollered at me to come outside. I get out there and she is staring at her phone and then the "Cinnamon Queens". I'm met with "what are they, they are NOT Cinnamon Queens. My what do you mean did not go too far. My mother who is terrible at chicken breeds went on with, they were the wrong color with too much black, wrong combs so what did she have. I admitted I did not know. I told her they could be Cinnamon Queens with rose comb parentage. They could be rose comb Rhode Island Reds or EEs. I also told her they have a couple more juvenile molts and they probably would loose those the black feathers over time. She ended up calling the lady at Rural king a few names and swears she is never buying chicks there again.

Just observing here, that box arrangement is higher than the perch to the right. They may instinctively want to sleep in the highest spot they get to. That was what the Buckeyes did. They slept on the two highest perches. Lots of shuffling around, snuggling and some pecking. Sometimes somebody was pecked away and had to take the next lower one. I think perches force a horizontal arrangement that maybe isn't all that great for chicken society. If that box gets too small - they are getting snug in there! - are you going to make another bigger one? I would. They like it there.
Yes it is higher because I raised the legs of the heat plate so they could fit under - but I don't think they are interested in that idea any more so I could probably lower it below the perch.
I am hoping they will start exploring the Chicken Palace on their own soon and decide to sleep out there. There is another perch they can access outside the brooder - but they mainly pop out onto that to observe the world and then go back inside to snuggle.
I am not pushing it because I want to be sure Bernadette can manage.
Taking it one day at a time!

Oh no! But they are so lovely, I hoped she would just fall for them.

I think she has fallen for them, she is extremely worried about the comb color, and she is just the type of person that if she is buying something she wants it to be exactly what she is paying for. She wanted Cinnamon Queens and expected to have Cinnamon Queens.

I just love the way you can integrate with your brooder box. It is very well designed.

I have secretly been hoping they were something less high production layer oriented. Please don't hate me for it.

And maybe they are Cinnamon Queens!
