Do you have a medium/large dog crate? If so, you can wrap top & 3 sides with cardboard, plastic, towel, anything...and leave the side with the door unwrapped/open so she can go in and out at will, & facing the sun. (It is heading into your winter there, yes?) This may be a bit too much, but I have used an empty jug, filled with very hot water and wrapped in either cardboard or a towel (think, hot water bottle), and put it in a protected space as a mini warmer (I've also done this with a bucket for the coop at night on really bitter cold nights.)

Was it also a concern that she might pick up more coccidiae (lord knows I DON'T know the spelling of plural for the coccidosis causing bacterium:rolleyes:)

This isn't something that happens overnight...the losing weight. Is there something else going on? Has he been a bit off for a while (like a week or so?) Remember chickens hide it well. Try some of his treats he is fond of, or maybe make some of his feed into a mash with treats mixed in and some plain greek yogurt (or kefir if you have it). Let him be with his girls...maybe make enough for them all to partake, so he will join in?

:idunnoThat's the best I've got. Hope it works.:idunno
Thanks, I will try that.

I heard a noise on the porch, and all the other birds were there waiting at the door. They must have wanted their rooster. So I took Jaffar out to them. He perked up a bit, and then they all headed home to the coop. Jaffar drank some water, and had a bite to eat. Then he mounted his perch. I will be checking on him every 30 minutes to confirm that he’s doing okay.

It's also a challenge to ensure lower rank animals receive proper socialization - I have found that some prefer smaller groups rather than larger ones. This can also be found with other animals including humans.
Mine get along better that way. I got 4 different flocks each with their own coops/run.

You mentioned in a previous post that there is no coccidia inside and it would help her heal. Hubby said she looked miserable today and wasn’t really interested in food. I was thinking that if it isn’t raining on the weekend, or windy, she should spend the day outside and come in for the night. What do people think? She will have her third treatment of Baycox tomorrow morning.
Maybe you could put her out in a dog crate, if you have one. That would allow her to see them, and vice versa, yet still keep her out of the contaminated soil. I know that when my girl Louise spends the night inside when egg bound , she gets ostracized after just one night away. Then Harper won't let her back in the coop, and I have to go out and put her in after they've gone to bed for a few nights until things settle down.

Dr Kevin suggested bringing her in as he didn’t think she would cope with the cold, given that she has absolutely no meat on her. She weighs 820 grams.

If there is absolutely no standing water, then I would let her out with the others for her mental Health.
