Decade not nearly AA

We are not as creative with the name of our coop but our 11yr old daughter has already named all of our flock. 8 chicks as a start. We are hoping they will be producers of many fresh eggs. But that won't bear big one since our daughter will.enjoy caring for and watching the grow up and run around. Love the post!.
Thank you. What are your chick names?

Finally have names for at least some of the littles

View attachment 3135498Maizie, hatched from a blue egg, buff Orpington x EE, will likely lay either blue or green eggs, but several months away yet.

View attachment 3135500Ember, a feisty little thing: at the MIL, she would attack any hand going into brooder, wether near any baby or at the other end. Since coming here, only once.

This little chocolate flame is still undetermined. Has a bit of wattles (not as much as Horus), but comb isn't doing much (no color).View attachment 3135514

Settling down tonight...View attachment 3135513Horus is at the back, and wattles are noticeable as is comb growth.

Jessica and her littlesView attachment 3135522No signs of wattles or comb color.View attachment 3135523Bonus: don't you love it when they move at JUST the wrong moment
More great names!

I'm back to life.

They had to put in the IVs 3 times because my arms are so skinny. I cried a lot and was extremely anxious, but I am more or less fine and have been playing computer games and drawing pictures. Also had some black walnut fudge ice cream from the agricultural campus dairy store.

I'm glad you survived! :hugs :hugs

Oh, and funny story to tell from the twin broodies. (Isbe and Rizo)

Rizo had 3 eggs under her! Isbe just laid her egg, and Rizo snatched it. Isbe looked sad (she had no eggs under her)

So i grabbed the egg back from Rizo and put it under Isbe.

Isbe took the egg and stuck her whole neck under Rizo and gave it back, placing it under her, sticking her entire neck under her.
(I have a video of it, to! )
Let's see the video!

Pony Sunday

This is Truly picking at whatever grass she can find. I have to keep my two ponies Sally and Lulu on a very strict diet to control their weight. As such they are limited to the two smaller paddocks. All those yellow flowers are the Baine of my existence, it buttercup and it's toxic to the horses they do not eat it I can't get proper herbicide to kill it off without a license and the agricultural companies won't come in to spray as I don't have enough land to make it worth their while.

I mow it down but it's a losing battle to do that as it grows so fast

Any chance of a twofer? My Dad had all sorts of fun products available to him when working in the groundskeeping department of BC housing as management (and lots of nice commercial lawn care equipment) until he retired in 2019. Career change with side benefits?

The plan was for me to drop be to the border, go to the TSC just the other side of Niagara, and grab some Dicamba or some other broadleaf herbicide (stuff I can't get here in Ontario without a license)... But by the time all the stupid restrictions went away the price of fuel skyrocketed... And of course the weeds are now 4' tall, really too big to do anything with.

I had planned to spray the big paddocks to kill off the buttercups and goldenrod, help the grasses grow and get a cut of hay off them. Not happening again this year. I will get the guy who cut it down last year to cut it again once the RAP (restricted activity period) for bird nesting is done.

Right now I noted that I have some redwing blackbirds and bobbalinks nesting there. I figure someone should have some use out of the meadows!

I will just grab some stuff in Alberta when I get out there. The Co-op carries all that stuff.
