Sounds like maybe she isn't ready to commit 100 percent to sitting on eggs.

The cats are 21 months, so they are well past the kitten phase. They were raised as barn cats to hunt mice and were allowed in the house as pets only since this winter so they have a strong hunting instinct. There has never been any problem with the bantam, but once or twice I saw Grochatila look like he was hesitant about whether she was a bird.

I have now seen how the bantam mother reacts when the rooster comes near and it is clear she will defend them from anything and scream at the top of her lungs. This should be enough to make him hesitate and alert us. However I agree it's too early for an introduction, we'll wait till they have grown a bit.

That is a good plan to wait for introductions. It's always stressful introducing different species! I have always been worried about the horses and chickies....

But the Chickie so far stay clear of them.

Yep and really enjoyed it. I was sad to see that Anthony's Fish Grotto moved from the wharf location to inland

Love the zoo and the seals at the beaches

Love the cactus and palm trees everywhere

My parents wintered in Yuma so San Diego was an easy three hour drive

Loved driving up through the mountains. Also drove up through LA to Bakersfield then would drive from there past the Salton Sea and back to Yuma.

Oh and flew into palm springs a few times, and once took my niece's along and we went up the cable car up in the mountains. Came back past Salton Sea to show them... Fun times.

In your case it's probably more stressful than here. Here it's a awful humid heat constantly but normally we have a breeze. Your animals have to deal with the weather cycling constantly. Our dogs have a air conditioner in their room and our coops and runs have as much shade and ventilation as possible. Fresh water everyday and electrolytes. We do the best we can and pray for relief from the scorching heat.

Minnie’s crop was empty this morning. She went to bed with a normally full crop (not mega bloated) so I was optimistic.
But yay!!
I have no idea what of the various treatments worked but I don’t care. They worked!


I just gave her last dose of miconazole so I will start to feel less like I am running an infirmary.

Now she, Maggie and Dotty still have diarrhea which is how this all started, and I still have weirdly walking Bernadette. But at least I am not syringing and worrying about every bite of food.

Back to diarrhea. Is it possible diet is part of the problem? They are all on chick starter which is very high protein. But they are foraging a lot because the weather is good. Hmmm.

Whiskey and Belladonna. The hobbit girls are taller than Twirp, about equal breadth, but not as long. Voices are changing, lots of honky squeaks.
