@RoyalChick , I've been thinking about your Bernadette and watching my pullets (about 3.5 mos old). I think that it is two fold, her apparent legginess. Yes, she is a tall/leggy girl, but also, being an adolescent, her 'bloomers' haven't fluffed out yet, so she looks even leggier.
My Welsummer chicks and a Welsummer hen to illustrate my point:
Pullet: Notice, very little 'fluff' around drumstick part of leg. Makes legs look longer/leaner
Welsummer hen: Notice body feathering hangs lower and 'fluff' on drumsticks is fuller. Makes her seem shorter/less leggy. However, both of these girls are the exact same height. The pullet, of course, weighs less as she hasn't filled out as much yet, but the 'base framing' so to speak, is the same!
So, I suspect that though Bernadette is a leeegggyy girl, she won't look quite so leggy as she matures and 'fluffs out'! Meanwhile, enjoy her athletic soccer legginess and antics

P.S. Hoping Bella is hanging in there and still being a fighter!
