Another thing to consider. You put your mom in charge of gathering eggs and breaking up broodies. Is she trustworthy? Or will you come back to babies and her acting all innocent and wondering where they came from?
Good heavens! Definitely she will not allow babies hahahaha! She drags them into the hen house at night of they go hiding! Which really isn't hiding - Whiskers just goes and tries to roost on the shavings bags ha!

You must speak to Polish as you approach so they know you are there. Use their name. Once you consistently do they quickly learn their names. Always come in low with your hand so they can see it. You will still startle them occasionally but much less often.
Haha polish eh? I thought they were a Dutch breed 😆

But ok I will learn Polish!

I found if I come in u see his beak it's all good.

Nope she definitely will not have to add chicks herself. At some point she is going to have to go out of town. One of her sneaky broody girls will take that opportunity to hide in a hay pile and convince the other girls to donate a few eggs to her cause. More points given to the sneaky girl if her spot is in a place that is difficult or near impossible for Kelly to reach to steal the eggs. 3 weeks later we will have a happy momma and a smitten and exasperated Kelly.
Yep depending on the camp job and how clever the sneaky little girl is… lol you never know she could almost come home to peepers!

Oh do not ever say "Not going to happen" when and where a broody hen is concerned. That is the ultimate "hold my beer" challenge to those girls. Ask me how I know this. I was adamant Momma Hen was not going to hatch any more chicks last year, let alone any of her own. I ate my words when she shows up with 10 of her own babies after thinking her lost to a predator.
Yep grey mama here did the same with 11! It was a solid week of not seeing her before I spotted her on a snack run, almost 5 more days before I found the nest… I was sure something would eat here but no…October Babies 🙄 though she did better with all her own eggs than when I gave her some to hatch earlier that year… I’m hoping she doesn’t do it again this year!
