Sol glad the Dr. is aware of what goes into working with & riding horses!!! Hope Rosie can appreciate the gravity of his 'No'!! (yeah, right...strong headed teen....:lau:lau:lau) One can wish:fl, though!❤️
I think she will listen. This is better then the 3 months that was predicted. That date also falls perfectly. Unless some unforeseen event happens, there should be 1 more final show scheduled down at the barn for the following week. This will give her the chance to have a week to prepare and show Russ one more time this year. She was really depressed that they had started having shows back down "in her own backyard" as she put it and she breaks herself.

Researching doses for Eqvalan/ivermectin for Mr Pompei and came across this really good article (buddy does go on a bit). I have to agree with the article, have used all sorts of ‘stuff’ over the years on my horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, cattle… when it comes right down to it there are no miracle cures or ‘natural’ ways to cure external and internal parasites.

Best way to combat them is through prevention, and if there is an infestation to jump on it immediately with proven treatments. Can’t tell you the amt of money, time, and likely misery to my poor animals I have caused by supposed ‘natural’ miracle cures 😥

These days YES I give my horses phenylbutizon (horse aspirin) for pain, my dog and my horses given Previcox (celebrex) for their pain and I give my Meloxicam (my arthritis and pain med) to my old horse also! We take the same dosage in that one! It has given them many wonderful pain free years of enjoyable life 💕(shhhh don’t tell but I can get a script for me and give it to her paid by…. Oh never mind bad Kelly haha😝). Yep, internal parasites that cause colic? Thing of the past! Ticks on my cat that may cause Lime Disease? Gone woohoo!

So why wouldn’t I do the same for my chickie poos, so Mr Pompei will receive a known treatment to effectively kill his lice infestation immediately and with no risk of toxicity or poisoning. And his misery and suffering with itchy scratchy lice will end almost immediately, and he will be able to join his new harem in a couple weeks hale and hardy 😊😊

I love modern conveniences!!

I can't work out a treatment for mites what do you use?. I looked up eqvalan and that's a pain killer for horses.

I've always used natural ways for my dog so we won't be in agreement there but in saying that I've just ordered a ton of worming treatments this past week for both my cat and dog. We have more pests than ever now so I'm making sure my fur babies are pest free and 🙏 it doesn't make them ill.

Everything went good this morning. They buried the sutures so nothing needed removing. She is young and healing fast so no physical therapy. Rosie also spoke up and asked all the questions she has been asking me that I did not have answers to. She was disappointed because she will not set off a metal detector. That was quickly made ok when she found out she can never have a MRI. Most importantly, we have a date set. She asked the dr if she could just climb up and sit on Russ's back. He looked at her and told her no. He has 3 horses himself. She cannot raise her arm over her head or lift or pull with it. He said you do both when you climb into the saddle. He then looked at her new x-ray, and said 8 weeks from the day of surgery. She is allowed back on Russ September 13 if nothing goes wrong and she listens to him.
Oh it’s wonderful she has a surgeon who is a horseman also ❤️❤️❤️ So did they chat horses 😁??

My surgeon definitely wasn’t a horse person and told he he couldn’t understand why people persisted in riding motorcycles and horses hahahahaha….

Wonder what he would say about Kris’ Battle Cassowary 😝

It is so interesting how each momma behaves with her chicks. Every other girl I have is pacing the coop on their first or 2nd day wanting OUT with their babies. I would prefer if they stayed in a week but I give in to the momma's so they do not hurt a chick in their pacing. Chiquita is the exact opposite. She does not want to bring them outside of the coop. The few times I've brought them out after a few minutes she starts pacing wanting back IN. I'm good with this, they are super tiny and my yard is a muddy mess. Their feathers are starting to grow in and right now it looks like the mix has normal feathers. So that is 2 for 2 satin silkie crosses for me. This mix does not have a name yet, but the silkie chick Rosie wants to name Hoppy. She had reserved that name for a black Poppy chick that sadly was not meant to be. Instead she wants to give it to Poppy's niece or nephew.....praying niece but we all know how my luck is.

And you don’t want to get any of the parasites either!!! Missy is eating mice and I know she has tapeworm I see them on her butt which FREAKS me out EWWWW!!!! I don’t like her in my room because of this, so I make sure I worm her so I don’t have to worry 😳😳😳 ewww!

Eqvalan is ivermectin, it’s an antiparasitic, which surprisingly was created from a fungus found in Japan - how awesome is that! The plant world is providing a lot of new meds, esp fungi, which are everywhere!

It’s been around since the 80s and is considered very safe. In fact I once accidentally dosed my yearly pony for full size adult horse!!!! I gave him about 5 times what he should have had!!! I was freaking out and called the Vet who told me that they tested at 10 times dose and no ill effects.

The only thing that happened was he grew a whole hand taller and grew the most glorious winter hair coat hahahaha! Guess when your body isn’t competing with parasites you bloom 🤪. But I was freaked out for a while.

I had so many issues with organophosphate wormers making my horses Ill that when Eqvalan came along I was very happy. Only thing it doesn’t kill is tape worm. For dogs and cats you need Droncit and for horses Prazaquantile. Both are very safe (thank goodness for modern meds - those older ones where not as good and not as safe!).

I used to use dusting louse powder the couple times I had lice with the horses, now a dose of Eqvalan wormer and all gone woohoo! I still use the dust powder to do their stalls when they had lice, and would use for the chickens if I had lice or mites. But not on the chicken, it’s too toxic in my opinion. The Eqvalan ( ivermectin) is an easy application on the skin for dogs cats chickens or paste by mouth for horses. It can also be injected which is what large cattle and sheep farms do.

Any time I have recooperated wild birds like ravens my Vet would inject them for lice and parasites. I can do it but it’s the ick factor with birds, I don’t mind jabbing the horses or the cat but birds freak me out hahahaha. I suppose if I had to I would….. but now it’s a topical application woohoo!

Anyways I love the convenience of a topical treatment with the chickens for lice, mites, worms…. It’s bad enough I have to shove wormer down my Arab mates gob, the beast! Can you imagine a 4 lb chicken besting me???!!!

Edit: mare, not mate… sheesh! Autocorrect 😤

I feel your luck is changing ❤️

:lau Everyone needs you, Michelle! Even your puppy came over wanting you to throw the ball!
I love Little Mill's iridescent black spangles/speckles, they were particularly noticeable in this video (maybe because it was up close?) Hoping her watery poo was just lots of drinking due to the heat!:fl And Bridgie ... what can I say:idunno, I'm a sucker for BRs:love:love
Bridge is a very special lady. 🎼” Bridgie, Bridgie, you’re the hen for me, I love Bridgie, and I want the whole world to see!”
