Twofer Tuesday. It is hot and everyone is resting in the shade.
Everyone except the damn hawk convention who have been screaming non stop all day. I wish they would move elsewhere.

Pullets Take Flight

@Shadrach would like this one. We were over my friend JD's for dinner the other night and I was enjoying watching his three new pullets frolicking in the yard. They were chasing each other and just having all kinds of playful fun as we are on the deck enjoying our meal and socializing.

As the sun set, the three gathered on this chair set. I thought they might be planning to roost there.

Well maybe 2 of them did. The lighter colored one had other ideas. She kept sizing up a tree which was over them. I swear it was at least an 8 foot flight to get to the lowest branch.

Did I mention these pullets are very lean with leghorn like wing to body ratios.

Up she went. Then she started climbing higher.

Her two friends were not amused and yelled for her to come back down.

She did not. So they went into the coop without her. This caused her quite a bit of stress especially after getting so high in the tree.

Eventually she bit the bullet and flew down. It was not a glorious landing but she survived and joined her friends in the coop.

There was a lot of conversation among the humans as to how we would get her down. Thankfully peer pressure took care of it for us.

I wonder what will happen tonight?!

Wow that Roo can run guess I won’t be letting him free range any time soon, I figured I would see what he would do, well run for the hills evidently!

So back in his crate he went! Now I am all itchy just thinking about picking him up hahahahaha. Oh I know it highly unlikely chicken lice crawl on my face but tell that to my silly brain hahaha!

Dakota hurt her wing. Possibly a fight with another chook. It’s way too hot to tell what actually happened. But to be safe, she’s inside with me. The rest are out playing in the water park.
Maybe she could help me with all this paperwork I need to do. (she’s a pretty smart chick)!

I think she will listen. This is better then the 3 months that was predicted. That date also falls perfectly. Unless some unforeseen event happens, there should be 1 more final show scheduled down at the barn for the following week. This will give her the chance to have a week to prepare and show Russ one more time this year. She was really depressed that they had started having shows back down "in her own backyard" as she put it and she breaks herself.

This picture demonstrates why you should go to a doctor and follow a doctor's advice. I broke my left ankle and didn't bother going to a doctor. Thankfully I am slightly smarter now, almost. Severed a tendon in my hand dressing a deer last fall and paused long enough to drink a beer. Yeah, men, we're stupid..

I can't work out a treatment for mites what do you use?. I looked up eqvalan and that's a pain killer for horses.

I've always used natural ways for my dog so we won't be in agreement there but in saying that I've just ordered a ton of worming treatments this past week for both my cat and dog. We have more pests than ever now so I'm making sure my fur babies are pest free and it doesn't make them ill.

Marie, tonight was wormer night for horses, I got Reenie wormed and she wormed me, haha I was telling her to behave and she spat a gob of it out into my mouth . Mmmm yummy!

I wonder if I will grow 4” and get a shiny winter hair coat
