Oh god, she’s got Covid!!
Hahaha

Who knows?? My sister is all freaked out mum is sick, told her to get tested 😳

I told mum why bother, it’s not going to cure ya, just wear you mask and hide in your room so I don’t get sick…

She told me to wear a mask and hide in the barn…

I countered by telling her na nana na na, you can’t go to the casino…. That’s when I made a hasty retreat to the barn yesterday 😆

Now karma has fated that I too shall be ill for teasing her ha!

Good thing I am working from home tomorrow! I can once again hide in the barn pretend to work, and play with the chickens and ponies 🐔.

And I can whine all I want to the chickies 😊 they will still luv me ❤️

My brother got him from Petco. They told him when he got him home he needed to let him be in his cage for a few hours to adjust. He has already named him "Happy". I got no say in helping choose a name. He reminded me I have 30 chickens, he just has 1 bird. He is just over 6 months old, one of the certificates has his hatch date on it. He was hatched 2/10/22. Conveniently a day before Ezzie's hatch date. His cage will stay in his room, but once he adjusts and settles I'm allowed to take him all over the house. We will share him as he puts it. He told me he thought "Happy" would help me with the loss of daddy and Ezzie. I guess he has been planning on getting a bird for a while now but they never had the right one when he would go check. This variety of conure is supposed to be the quietest one and the smallest. I'm right now reading everything I can find about them. I personally wanted a bird but I was leaning towards Indian Ringnecks and Goffin Cockatoos. Happy will not have a huge vocabulary, but they can learn a few words and phrases. I will see that he imitates my boys crow someday. I will simply bring Branch in and let him do the rest.

Meet Happy.

Pretty! Does he need a friend?

Yes that is an odd stance. Usually odd stances are indicative of discomfort. What is she like when walking?
Normal - maybe a bit more tail-down than I would like to see. And she has flown/hopped up and down the roost a couple of times which also looked normal.

Pretty! Does he need a friend?
From what I've read so far he will not need a friend. As long as after he has adjusted which from what I'm reading is about a month, he gets 2 to 4 hours outside of the cage a day. I promise you, when I'm not with the chickens, he will be out with me. I've always said I could let the dogs/cats/horses go but do NOT touch my chickens. I'm that much of a bird lover. If he does get him a friend one day Happy will have to be dna sexed and his friend be the opposite sex.

Happy tax since while he's a bird, not a chicken.

Mugs Monday curtesy of Twiggy. Darn it, thanks to this picture I spotted something I had not noticed before. Look closely and you will see it, a few hints of copper coming in on his wings. I guess I will have to get used to calling him he now, that is not the place a hen would get copper markings. Yes I did mutter a few choice words when I spotted them.

I'm so happy I cannot stand it. I was just introduced to my "god-bird" as my brother put it. He/she needs a few hours to settle in his cage before I can hold him. He, for some reason, I want to call it a he, is a 6 month old Black Head Conure. Around midnight tonight I am allowed to hold him. Yes I am counting down the hours. I have been banned from teaching it to crow. That is fine, my boys will do it for me over time. I will know in about a month or so if it is a boy or girl as my brother plans on taking it to the vets to have it DNA sexed.
I'm hoping too see a picture this is exciting :D

Inky and GINGER

Buuuuuut, just when I thought things were going well, at the end of free ranging today, Ginger initiated another attack towards Inky. I have so many bushes/plants in certain area that chickens got to Inky way faster than I could. Again they piled up on Inky and peck ☹️
So I asked my friend if she wants Ginger. She said yes and already took Ginger tonight! She has a rooster so I imagine Ginger can be well handled there. She said I can have Ginger back in a couple days if I want to 😂 .

With Ginger gone, we put Inky back to the run around dusk and Inky got into the coop no problem. All good so far!
