I was trying to figure out if they were actually doing it right - 😳 then I was thinking oh fertile eggs! Babies !

Hahaha with me it all comes down to the babies - talk about counting your chickens before they hatch!!!
I’m a little behind… ok a lot behind, but has anyone started a betting pool on how long before Mr. Pompai becomes a daddy? And how many chicks? Between the stoic little broodies trying to sit and his handsome hairdo…

Hello My Old Friend

Today is the first day since she started molting that Hattie came up on the deck. I think she is feeling better. And look! Some tail feathers are growing!

No Worms
Just to give everyone an idea of how dry things were here. It has rained here for 3 straight days. I have not seen a single worm above ground. I have no idea where they are but after 3 days of rain there are usually worms all over the cement and in the pool. There is not one to be seen anywhere.
Awww Looking good Hattie! And if she is feeling at all self conscious… I offer up Ziptie in her current state as consolation. Surely it will cheer her up. She will not be participating in FBF anytime in the near future to say the least. Her bottom and wing pits are in much the same state. At least now I know why she was being so cross with her tribe mates! I also keep explaining to people here that all the feathers floating around are normal, no one has been plucked, and although quite a sight, all my poor half naked and half porcupine chooks are just growing fresh plumage.

Nope not happening!

I have a plan to be out in AB/BC very very soon…

How much is that doggie in the window…… :gig

It’s getting late on the year now, soon be snow on the ground here. Don’t want chicks running about if I am not home to care for them. Mum will have her hands full just feeding them and finding eggs hahahaha.

Meanwhile Dorothy still insists on being broody! Been that way since 23 July!!! I keep dragging her off the nest and after about an hour she gets back on her nest - silly gal!
