Have to say I would still love to throw chicks under some next year…. But not practical with my life at the moment 😟

So I just live vicariously through you guys 😊
I’m still betting Mr Pompei and some lucky/sneaky lady are going to conspire to make some chicken math happen when you aren’t looking. Yay, got a camp job… come home to mom saying “I can’t find Curley” and she’s tucked away in some hay all smug and a week away from being a mama! 😂

Seeing as my connection is strangely cooperating and I’ve got 15 minutes left in Thursday:

Same water, but it tastes better off the ground!
And Meatball 2 and Trouble having a little sip

Snow giving a nice preview for Friday… that waterer is ready to be retired, very soon. And probably won’t survive another cleaning. 1/2 the price but also 1/2 the lifespan of the US made ones… sigh Princess Auto junk, but it was affordable (now I need to replace all 4)

I fully understand that everyone doesn't have the same opinion on the subject of eating animals. I think all choices should be showed consideration for, when they are consciously made by people who love and respect animals.

@fuentemoon I also love her colourings! I don't remember if I've written about her arrival at our place before here. Gaston, the old farmer who had just given us Théo, showed up two days later without warning in his old tractor and he was holding her in one hand, poor thing, he had tied her leg's together with a piece of string. He handed her to me saying it was to keep Théo company until he grew up and the bigger hens accepted him. She was the prettiest, daintiest chicken I'd ever seen... and also the wildest one !
Théo and Chipie their first week here in quarantine.

@Lexicon I'm seeing your Isabella has pretty much the same colour and some similarities, do you know what the colour is called, and what kind of chicken she is ?

You and ponypoor enjoy funny hairdos 😂.
Funny hairdos, what do you mean funny hairdos.

I do not see one funny hairdo in that group. Jury is still out on whether or not Goose will join the cool kids club with a funny do although I'm suspecting she will not.

I'm right there with you on thinking the same thing. I think it will be Marty though that sneaks off and hides. A black hen in a dark hidey hole is a whole lot easier to miss then a white one.

Sorry I haven’t been keeping up at all… is Grandma back with you and family? I hope all is well. I did catch an update about Rosies surgery a little while back, but I am hopelessly behind (but making some headway on my roof). Hugs and best wishes for your family. :hugs
Yes she willingly came back a month a go temporarily according to her. She has been having dizzy, nausea spells that also causes her blood pressure to temporarily spike. Those spells are happening frequently enough to scare her. Right now her Dr does not know what is causing it, although we have a abdominal ct scheduled in a week. It could be related to a hernia she apparently has. If it is not that, he said next step would be with her heart dr. If it is not hernia or heart related who knows where he will send us to next.

You all, I just discovered something this evening. White Tail Buff Marans. They look exactly like what mom and myself want. A member on BYC has them, one teeny tiny problem, they are in Australia. I asked them if this variety is available in the states. I swear if they are not I'm packing up and moving to the land of the drop bears.

Yup. That is what they do.
The trick is a funnel so they can go into a jar but can’t fly out.
You can also use plastic wrap (I re-use pieces that come on packages of cheese etc from the grocery stores) and once it is stretched over a jar with bait (a bit of fruit works well) then stab it with a skewer a few times. They come into the jar through the holes but can’t get out.
I then pop the whole jar in the freezer and it kills them all and bring it back out and start over.
I found that my bread bin was attracting them so I've thrown it out and ordered a new one. I've scoured along my work surfaces. It's taken so long and still going back in intervals.
Now I need help to move my gass cooker because the renters will not be replacing the tops to fit for two years and I need too get around and under the cooker

I don't like using this ozone machine I have in sheer desperation last night and closed the door. It did help but I'm still struggling.

:hugs Be very careful of those drop bears :D
