I love them, they are adorable. I do have to ask though, how old are they? I have 2 types of PTSD, broody's and "OMG another boy." That last chick pictured, would start to scare me. With Marans, or Marans mixes, if I see the hint of wattles or comb with color starting BEFORE 9ish weeks, I panic. Most of my Marans and mixes if they are boys let themselves be known between 2 to 4 weeks. I have had a few late developers who I thought were girls pop comb and wattles overnight up to 9 weeks. Some pictures of the babies first trip outside to see what grass is all about. They were much braver then I expected.

Then there were Fluffy and Curly who spent 6 weeks in February broody!![]()
Winter is coming. It should slow down. Maybe.
Hi MarieThey are evil things
Hey kiddies hope you had a good day
Winter brings me no peace of mind. One of the cochins went broody for the first time somewhere around the last week of December to the first week of January. Any more I just look at the girls and tell them that "they hate me don't they".Then there were Fluffy and Curly who spent 6 weeks in February broody!
Although I think at the end they just stayed there because it was darn tootin cold!!

I just want to know who or what do I need to sacrifice to the "pullet fairy" to make her visit me. I'm reaching the stage where it could be arranged in a heartbeat. These checkerboard have been hard on you. You are inventing new psychological problems. Way to blaze the trail.![]()

They were all hatched Aug 1st. We are still in the danger zone for surprise roos. The first pic and the last pic that show black chicks are the same bird. The first one shows the color I see irl the second looks much redder then it does irl. I have had my eye on that one as possible roo for quite sometime and a few others as well. I was guaranteed 3 females the rest were straight run so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to get another one or two in addition to the two I am already sure are boys. Until its more definitive Ill just keep on hoping that chick is BCM pullet lolI love them, they are adorable. I do have to ask though, how old are they?
