My hand feels much better, thanks ! And I feel mostly annoyed at myself for making stupid mistakes and being so clumsy with them. I'm praying (figuratively 🤣) when the dewormer paste is delivered, they accept to eat it on bread or in grapes, because I'm dreading having to syringe ten chickens for five days in a row.

I may have been kind of angry at little Théo for an hour. It was positive actually because I went running to pass it off, which I had completely stopped since Chipie hatched the chicks for the first time in a decade.

And if I may return your enquiry, how are you doing, and feeling about your chickens ? Since you mentioned possible future additions to the chickens palace, I hope it means that your three princesses are faring good, and that you are on the way to mending your heart 💚.
Be extra careful with those hands.

I hope you are well otherwise

This Two-fer is for you, Bob! 🤗

My three are the same way. We have to spell key words like “out”, “eat”, and “treat”. They are learning how to spell, they already know “o u t”. 🤦‍♀️
I've got the solution for you! :lau :lauI have a brother & sister (twins) who are 12 years younger than me. When they were too young for gum, but we wanted some...first started spelling (G-U-M) and they learned that pretty quickly. Then started spelling it backwards M-U-G!! Took them a while to figure out the backwards spelling one! And, no, that wasn't all we spelt, obviously, but being a short word, and one they were quite motivated for...they learned the G-U-M pretty darned quick!

Tax: This is the equivalent of what Elroy looked like getting out of his 'I'll hide in the chicken coop because of the Fireworks' endeavor.

Edit: Hmmm, video link didn't seem to take:

Fluffy might be hanging out in the nest box BECAUSE she is moulting, not because she is broody. Could be eithercausing her to 'hang out' there:idunno ...I have one or two hens that try to hang out in a nest box when moulting - but they are definitely NOT broody.
Update:

So this morning I notes the Fluffy was flattened and growling when I went to haul her from the nest box. Darn bird! Oh well she can rest and grow feathers back and love a golf ball.

😊

I do need to expand the flock - it is nice and calm with only three but realistically I have a high probability of suddenly finding myself with a solo chicken. I guess I could give the survivor away, but I don't see myself doing that, so I need to rebuild. My plan is to add in the spring, but of course that is taking a gamble that at least one of Maggie or Diana survive the winter. I do hope they both do of course!

Hmmmmmm, now I just have absolutely no idea where you might get some young pullets (10 weeks old) to expand your flock with. 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️
