😟Ok Im gonna post pics of the chicks I took this morning; but first I noticed yesterday one of the babies resting too much.(lethargic) Today she has runny, smelly poop (diarrhea). I have a bad feeling but the rest of them are ok. I have started them all on Corid (amprolium). I had to do math to figure out the dosage😵. Gonna keep a close eye on them. They are vaccinated for mareks, but not coccidiosis. I hope she's going to be ok I'm worried now never had a sick chick.
Hope the Corid sorts her out fast.

Happy Fluffy Butt Friday everyone. Today's contributors are mostly of Bunny and a one or two of Raven. Both those girls are very, very, very angry with me and are letting the world loudly know it. Bunny is still not broken up from being broody and last night Raven thought Bunny had the perfect idea and joined her in the other box. NO, NO, NO. I've had to resort to drastic measures, the porch boxes are closed for business, and they are NOT happy.

Sorry girls, you made me do this.

I'm so glad chickens cannot talk, because I have been cussed at ever since.

I also wonder why chickens all over the world are moulting early. It's also the first year all of my adults moult at the same time, and it's quite scary.

I felt kind of bad taking pictures of molting butts. I left Chipie and Blanche in peace because they're the worst.

Why prefer bigger butts ? Smaller younger butts don't molt. Says Léa.

She prefers being so light she can fly to the moon 🌚.View attachment 3268998
Over half of my flock are in various stages of molting. None are doing a hard fast molt like Butter did last year, but feathers dropping everywhere. I need to buy chicken feed anyway today so instead of layer pellets I'm picking up a bag of "Feather Fixer" since it has higher protein in it. I will continue to offer oyster shell so the girls that are laying can get the added calcium if needed. I want molting season to be over fast, Branch is molting at well even though he did not look like it. His whole body is covered in pin feathers and its making him uncomfortable so he does not want snuggles. I'm on day 3 of no rooster snuggles, I may not make it.

Always nice to see Raven.

Update on the broody situation. I walked in the kitchen to refill my coffee cup and I see mom and grandma pilfering through the eggs I got yesterday and so far this morning. I asked them what they were doing. They are picking out about a dozen. Why? Those 2 decided Bunny can hatch babies. They agreed that if they set her tonight, they should be here by the 2nd week of October. That would give them at least a month before it gets really cold, and that Bunny can keep them warm and they would be ready to lay in the spring. Why do I even try anymore. I should point out that if anyone complains on chicken numbers......it is my mother occasionally when the hens get riled up over nest box drama.

I wish to rant: I will try to keep it short!
I have all these properties, all this time to do things. But I have never forged my own knife or sword 🗡. I have carved horseshoes to fit Chaco, and I wear my own home made leather belts. I have seen some very creative people, do miraculous things. (I want to do them also) it’s sad that there’s always someone else with a faster/nicer plane than mine!
Sometimes I feel like crawling under a rock (but knowing me, I’d find gold under it) :barnie rant over. …… (for now)
