And my moulting post was interrupted by “two raccoons and a chicken walk up to the feeder and…” this is what happens when I sit down and try to catch up. 🙄 Anyways, I heard a slightly “abnormal” cluck (but not an alarm???) and the two raccoon Cubs were here early again and chowing down within two feet of Snow at the feed. I am beginning to doubt the “natural selection” on her breeding, but everyone is safe now, and up for the night. Something got one of the 3 half grown raccoon Cubs, I think about two nights ago based on the noises and disappearance of one of them.

Anyways, I always feed 18% layer/breeder pellets, with scratch as a side, and the meat saw stuff as treats once a week. They go crazy for it. Please don’t feed all-vegetarian feed… they are little omnivores… nearly carnivores! 😂

Blanch and PITA lounged under a bush....next day, area COVERED in white feathers. Nellie had 3 tail feathers holding on like half opened scissors one evening....next morning, all 3 gone. Silver and Pear have been looking rumpled. Thing has been going off by herself to hide from the rest (and sleeping with her face to the wall), jumping (and snapping) at anything moving near her....Cuckoo is baring her breast....Cheetah's tail feathers are looking ragged. Only adults acting/looking normal are Storm (her feathers are all slightly frayed like Hattie's get pre-moult) and Twirp. Fortunately, none of mine have gone the stripper turning into a prickly porcupine....yet....

It’s so hard to take decent tax photos when everyone looks like they’ve been half plucked and they want to bite the heck out of anyone in a five foot radius! 😂 Ziptie is half regrown… not nekkid and prickly but with mini growing out plumage about 1/2” long. She has also decided to rejoin the main flock. I’ve had so many gils go from ok to ragged, to naked porcupine chook, and now back to semi-chicken-looking feathers this last month… I expect it to continue until late November in our climate.

Better not !!! By then I am hoping to be in remote AB hahaha don’t want mum to deal with that!!!! I am boarding up that loft door tomorrow that’s it!!!
