Oh Maggie! It really pains me to see you like this!

I have doggy play pen panels for temporary runs. I cover them in either deer netting or the 2x4” hardware cloth. I use twist ties to fix it to the top and sides. The good thing is the panels dismantle very easily. The bad is it is too low to walk in (unless you are a dog of course!).
👍 I have discovered them, now, too. 👍 However, this one is sturdy enough I don't fear if a stray dog or a fox comes by during the day. It is remarkably sturdy as long as you pound the rebar into the ground a bit!

This is the best time of day. The ladies love to be out foraging. I worry that it is when the foxes also like to be out foraging so I sit with the Princesses and enjoy the afternoon.
I just cleared the electric fence that got a bit overgrown in the rainy days while I was away. Even with all the rain the ground is dry and rock hard making it difficult to move the posts. But I think I managed mostly to set it right.

Excellent idea :goodpost:
I wish I had thought of this last summer

Goldenrod tax: Maggie in the Goldenrod

Hide n seek ❤️

The goldenrod here has died off quite a bit.... and its like sticks now - dreadful stuff...

This is why I'm working hard on taming Twiggy. He is stubborn and does not like to be caught. Although when caught he melts. Once he stops running from me and lets me pick him up without a fuss I'll be happy. I'm glad the crows did their job and the hawk did not go after your chickens.
Poor Mr P was so upset he was panting - I don't like stressing them out, so he is going to have to be desensitized to being handled. He won't ever be a pet, but I don't want that - I just want to be able to handle him without him freaking out!

Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope everyone’s doing well. My girls are out free ranging at the moment as I clean up some more of the brush from the oak trees have been working on. So guess what? Apparently Word on the street is that I am the chicken lady. Today I was able to drain 60 cc of fluid off a very sick hen with aacites. She’s a rescued hen of a friend of a friend. Poor little girl is in bad shape, but I think we did provide a little relief and I’m going to try to help this family make sure she gets more nutrition to build her strength. Long-term prognosis might not be great, but it would be nice if she got to really enjoy life for a while before she goes. Feeling happy to have hopefully provided a tiny bit of comfort to a chicken in need.

Looks like your trees are starting to turn a bit. Ours are well on their way here - beautiful but depressing as I know winter is well and truly on the way.

Poor chickies have been going in and out of the barn today, its windy and chilly; poor Dorothy is just hanging out in a nest box - I put the Cozy Coop panel on for her - I'll be glad once her feathers come in fully!
