Mr P and his poo: I have been reading up on chickens and their digestive system. I came across this article. It’s a bit graphic but there is one sentence in particular that I found interesting:
“ In nature, chickens eat during the day and rest at night. Their intestines empty and the intestinal lining begins to slough. The sloughing occurs because birds do not maintain the flow of blood to an intestinal lining that is not absorbing food.” (https://www.gov.mb.ca/agriculture/l...picture-guide-of-chicken-feed-withdrawal.html).

One of those pictures looked exactly like what was in his poo! I knew that they 'slough off' intestinal lining some..but never knew this was a daily (rather nightly) thing! Wow!

You could always send Mr P here to my tribe. I’m running a special “rehabilitate your rooster” here with all accommodations. Meally worms, steaks 🥩, and electrolyte water. Airplane rides are available only by reservation.

I’ve never had a Pompeii experience.

OMG, does she typically burry herself like that? It is almost like she was caught in a bedding avalanche!
No she does not. She can dig some pretty impressive holes in the sawdust when she wants to. I think she really enjoyed when mom covered her over as the sawdust is warm with the sun shining on it.

Mine did that one year also, and last year on the summer it popped out some flowers. I wonder if it’s stress that does that.

I need to wrap my rhododendron tomorrow they are ok with the cold just not the wind, it ruins the leaves, so i wrap in burlap to protect them from wind burn.
My magnolia will bloom a second time if we get a ton of rain. I mean a lot of rain. It usually requires a hurricane to come through for it to happen.

Magnolia tax
Is this a Leghorn or a white pigeon?
