Thats awful. :(

Mine are doing okay. Its actually at a decently peaceful time where every chicken getting an injury and their not fighting so much. I managed to merge my flocks into one, so the pecking order has began to be quite peaceful, and all is well here now.
Sorta sad that the rooster (smaller then the ladies) is at the bottom of the pecking order and sounds like a squeak toy. He’s precious.
Awwwww poor Roo! You need to post a photo of him 🥰

As of today Twiggy has officially hit the "Idiot" stage. Hormones have hit, he thinks he's hot stuff and any hen had better watch her back. Holly has taken great pleasure in stalking and thrashing him after he tried to jump her. A growl from either Bubba or Branch stops him in his tracks thankfully and they have not had to whip him yet. He keeps it up and he will get one though. Here are a few pictures of him this evening. Look at him, they way he's holding himself. In his little pea-brain he's all that.

He’s spectacular 😊

Sorry im never here. (Im not on BYC all that much anymore either.) Its because i have a bunch going on. The major stuff (not all) being 5 days of the week, waking up at 6:00, then 7:30 to around 2:00 im at cows (I volunteer and show them) Then i have chickens, prepping the winter coop. Dance 3 days out of the week, etc.

Anyway, i just wanted to pop in and see how everyone is doing.
Well we are all happy to see you when you do pop in 🥰🥰

What type of dance at you doing?

One of those pictures looked exactly like what was in his poo! I knew that they 'slough off' intestinal lining some..but never knew this was a daily (rather nightly) thing! Wow!
Yep it’s totally got me freaked out - chickens who knew they were so complicated!

Just awful.
I understand them escorting you out once you quit - often standard practice - but the lead up is appalling.
I am so sorry.
Now I understand why you didn't just bite your tongue and get them to pay you through your vacation and then quit.
:hugs:hugs:hugs
I will get my vacation paid out to me so that’s fine. But I need to get work asap.

Meanwhile I am totally having fun with the horses riding, and playing with the chickies 😊🥰

Here is Foxy and her first egg, from 3 days ago.

She was busy eating the luffa gourd vine that I took down so it was hard to take a picture that she wasn't blurred.

I have been lucky to only lose one chicken so far, but I have also only had chickens since April. I was so upset. Bonnie was the other chick we got at the same time as Speedy. She was killed by a rat snake that tried to eat her but she was too big so it spit her out. I found her dead on the floor of the coop in the morning. We found the snake and my husband killed it. We don’t like killing rat snakes, but we knew this one would try to get in the coop again and could kill Speedy, who was a little smaller.

In honor of her memory here are some Twofer Tuesday pics of Bonnie and Speedy. Bonnie is the darker/larger of the two. The feed store said they were the same age but we have always suspected Bonnie was a little older.
