The molting is lasting forever this year.Ok so I know that @micstrachan mentioned she was dealing with strange moulting patterns this year, and I seem to have the same thing going on.
Most of my gals did a moult in late summer, and now moulting again! But worse now, Sophia is just dropping feathers everywhere!
Is anyone else having strange moults?
No, they are perpetually that way...but if I gently work them, I can open them up, but she cant...they are just 'limp' in that position...Well she is clenching her toes so hopefully that’s a good sign![]()
Early. They all started early this year except Aurora. I noticed today that she may have finally started molting. I think I see the loss of some bum feathers. Aurora is on her usual schedule. Wow, I can't believe the rooster pinned the hawk!!!! Good for him! I hate to say this, Bob, but maybe you do need a rooster....Rooster Teaches Hawk Lesson
This hawk acts a lot like Satan when it goes to fence to observe and attack a second time. One hen loses some feathers but it looks like they all survive the attack thanks to the rooster.
