Scary how nonchalant s/he was regarding people. Hubby thought it was just feral cat initially (it sort of is, but not what he was thinking!)

I've seen one about 2.5-3 miles away...so knew were in general area, but hadn't seen one right out our picture window before! S/He as sniffing around the 'littles' cage and pen/run. Slowly, as hubby was walking by (about 15-20 feet away) Bobcat sauntered down yard and across street...ever so casually!

For the most part the birds aren't bothered by this. Horus didn't want to stand in it, so his flight to exit the coop involved brief touches to relaunch in a curving arc around the outside.

While there may not have been much physical reactions (Twirp came out and promptly hopped up on bricks and Horus and Kren headed into the carport for the crock pot water there), there was LOUD crowing and much grumbling.

I am not ready for this!

I can’t remember the details now but when I was researching setting up my electric fence I think I remember they said not to do that.
Also, you need to have the ground the same metal as the clips and wire you will connect to it. Otherwise you get the galvanic effect which erodes the metal.
I think house ground rods are copper whereas electric fence are galvanized steel. To avoid confusion I bought a kit from the electric fence people so I was sure I got the right thing.

There is a specific distance you need to be from water lines (both to prevent driving through them! and to prevent currant from running along the line!), you can get a specific proper grounding rod at most feed/hardware stores.

I think next year I will run a hot line under the bottom board and between it and the swcond board to prevent fox and coyotes from getting into the paddock - won’t stop aerial predators, will have to give that one some thought for the paddock. Maybe some covered hide -out places in the paddock they can run to easily. They really enjoy digging through the horse doodoo and have a blast catching crickets.

It was good you got an inspection so fast. It is always better to involve the inspectors early on in a project.

They get very easily habituated to people. Lynx too become quite nonchalant about people.

WOW that is scary though with the chickaloos more uses for electric fencing!

This is enrichment for all pets the horse enjoy watching me potter around sawing and hammering, and now that I have the chickens they also really enjoy it. Sound of the saw doesn’t bother them at all!

In fact I have to usually chase the horses and chickens away so they do get injured! Wish they could hold that tape measure though!!

4th one up from bottom. Facing Right. Comb I'm unsure of, depends on breed, but otherwise, does.. and the one below him similar but slightly darker coloring(I think 2 separate shots of same one?) one pic legs look quite stout, other pic, not so much.

are you talking about the grey one or the brown one?
