Good morning. I actually have not been asleep at all tonight. Me and mom spent the night cleaning. There was some things she was wanting to do before Christmas that I would not be able to help her with after tomorrow. Now I just have to babysit the phone waiting on the hospital to call so I can pre-register and find out my surgery time in the morning. And then later today do another coop clean out.
Sorry for the sleepless night - please DO get some sleep tonight, as you want your body to go into surgery well rested - for les pain and better healing!:hugs

So wonderful that it is finally upon you, though❤️❤️. This has been such a LONG and tough journey for you. I'm praying for a wonderful outcome and a life without pain for you post surgery.

@ManueB I know he can be a pill, but I just love Theo!🥰🥰🥰

I suppose my love is not fair, as they are all gorgeous and wonderful chickens - YES, even Chipie! But, Theo and Piou-piou are my favorites. Partially because she was so tiny and lovely and an underdog - I wanted her to do well. And, her spit-fire attitude is probably a big part of why she made it! (Maybe some of Mom's attitude rubbed off on her while being raised?) And then Chipie. I think that you named her aptly. She has a 'chip' in her shoulders! Your ex-batts are sweet, but the others have 'character' as my mum would say.:lau:lau:love:love

:caf
good morning chicken lovers, I thought I would pop in and have a second cup of coffee with you,

have I told you how much I just love my rooster :gig
When I went in last evening to close the coop door, he was talking to me as I fussed about, I picked him up [boy is he heavy] I talked to him and showed him what it looked like out the window and than I set him down in the nesting box. Well he walked back and forth in it, kind of inspecting it, then he started chatting at me again and fluffing the spot where the one hen has been laying her eggs. So, I said, "yes, Cornelius, good job fixing the nest, I see that, tut-tut-tut, thats the egg spot isnt it,,,," he kept chatting and I fluffed the other areas , then he was done, he hopped down and trotted off. :love:love

Beautiful rooster, and I love this picture with the other hen's side view and someone checking you out closely too! 😍

I'm very furious that it isn't snowing. They clearly said that on Sunday it was going to snow. Nope! Just some icy rain, followed by a cloudy sky and I like a cloudy sky. When I looked out the window, what I thought was a chunk of snow was just a large stone. I really need it to snow so I can upload a photo to the Winter on the Farm contest.
I would gladly send you some of ours!!

We were forecasted to get 1-3 inches. The next county over 3-5". Based on the geography here, I usually split the difference, so I assumed 2-4". Nope, 6+ inches. I love how it looks, and that isn't too bad for shoveling, as it wasn't slushy. However, as I age and joints hurt....I get less and less fond of large snowfalls, as there is a ton of shoveling here...and the old bones don't take it so well. All the extra cleaning before with the chicken run and coops, plus shoveling before I went to bed, could barely move..hips screaming at me!:(

However, it is just gorgeous this morning...and with extra pharmacuticals (high dose of ibuprophen), I did finally get some sleep last night, and hips are at least moving this morning....and, again, it is so gorgeous out! So, I can't complain too much!

No new picts (will have to get some later...but I'll pay tax with some oldies:

This one is just for @BY Bob Slightly older picture of my 'pullet', shortly before he was rehomed with one of his sisters to have a flock of his own.

I have been trying to keep it quite that I'm having the surgery. My grandmother has made sure everyone and their cousin knows I have to have it. The downside to this is all my aunts have had it done and they have called. To ask why it needed done so young. Then I get their recounts of theirs. All but 2 horror stories. Yup, that is just what I needed thank you. I also got what to do and what not to do before and after surgery. I really hate to hear the phone ring right now.
Yes, I had this happen just before my knee surgery. Almost didn't have it because of the horror stories, This is what I will say - take it for what it is worth to you.

As @knoturavggrl & others have mentioned, they are stories BECAUSE they are issues/anomalies. You know you need this, and I assume you trust your surgeon. Put the 'crap' out of your mind. Try to get some sleep tonight
- and we will all be praying for the best possible outcome. I am so thankful that I didn't let the horror stories stop me - I cried my self to sleep most nights due to pain prior - now the knee is my best joint ( )!

:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

You do what you need to do for your health and sanity. Feel free to tell the others to go sc**w.

Congratulations you've made it this far! Try to rest some, and stay well-hydrated today.

Last couple of days temps have been ABOVE FREEZING. Chickens came out for quite a while yesterday. I have new mugs! (And others). Most of the Adults stayed in, finishing growing in feathers.

View attachment 3347716Blanche has some new splash marks, especially around her neck.

View attachment 3347714View attachment 3347722Cheetah is supervising from above...has a bit of "bed head" going with the new feathers too. Still has a bit to go to be fully covered, but he's looking good. (He's also now noticeably the tiniest rooster as Horus as filled out more).View attachment 3347717Primula has been STUFFING herself. I think she's going to give Cuckoo a run on largest crop at bedtime.View attachment 3347718Mera is yelling at me....("make the ground warm" or "the boys a trying to pester me" or "where's the mealyworms?!"
View attachment 3347719View attachment 3347720View attachment 3347715Curious Nox is also yelling. Her preferred nest box was occupied by her sister.
Great photos, Cheetah is magnificent even only half-feathered. I like his bed hair! Great close-up pic of Nox!

Hmmm...I sympathize. What's your alternative though? Live in agony? Can you live on myfembre for a long time? If it helps I will tell you I had a GREAT OUTCOME. Yes there's post-operative pain, and healing to do, for me, a couple month's worth. But even during that it was remarkable to me HOW GREAT I felt. Hadn't felt so good in years.

I had a complete hysterectomy. All went well and it was the best thing I ever did for pain and bleeding. You will heal faster than you think. I was in my 30's so when your young you heal quicker. You'll feel much better in a couple of weeks.💕
