All you peeps use that C word instead of the F word (which is nice I guess) but makes the weather seem worse than it actually is. I prefer the J word. It’s 8C in Visalia, CA - brrrr! I am thinking that is not the place to retire if one wants warms sunny weather in the winter.

Policies can vary some based on company and where you are located, but as a general rule, if it’s a burst pipe they will not pay to fix the pipe, but they will pay for any damage caused by the water (like to your ceiling, or anything that it leaked onto) and possibly for repairing the wall that the plumbers have to cut into to get to the pipe. (I used to work for StateFarm.) If you haven’t called your insurance yet you need to do that right now.Thanks. It sure is miserable.
I am going to see if insurance will pay up. That is sure to be frustrating too!

Sorry this happened to you RCThat is very interesting and good to know. Thank you!
I already called insurance (Monday morning first thing) and have a claim number.
I am documenting everything with photos.
We will see. Even if they just pay a bit of it that would be helpful - I don't have a choice but to fix it so I will go ahead anyway.
