So much 🌧️ from subzero windchills to a deluge.

Coop has remained dry as has the run except for the edges of course but I would expect that. Yay!!

View from the bridge on our property I cross this to get to the coop. It’s usually a slow meandering stream. Not today though!

Sorry that I haven’t been too active on BYC lately. I’ve been extremely busy with my personal business lately. But I am popping in to see how everyone else is doing. :frow
It's all good - I keep checking my cameras to see how my chickies are making out - they don't seem to be missing me :(

Here they are all running around having fun without me - boohoo!

Nice coop - looks like a perfect place for chickens :)

The Whiting True Blue and Whiting True Green are named not for the color of the chicken, but the color of the eggs they lay. Chicken color can vary tremendously, but they are supposed to be 100% at laying those colors. This website has some interesting information:

https://silverhomestead.com/whiting/

Which just means that identifying breeds by what a chicken looks like can be virtually impossible with some breeds. 😂
Yes Yes! That is what I want - a breed of chicken that is all different colours so I can easily tell them apart yet lay blue or green eggs :)

Can the chicks be sexed prior so that you get all hens? Oh too bad I am up here and they are down there :(

Today is soggy wet and miserable. I'm sad having to shut up the coop I don't want them outside in this.

One of those ducks was naughty and bullied the children so I told them to calm down and surprisingly they listened :D
I was worried about my kiddos last week out in the rain - esp the Silkies - but they went out and dug for bugs and got all soaked (well the Silkies did - the others have perfect feathers that shed rain), they had a blast - it was me that suffered the damp and cold! I think your gals should be ok outside as long as it isn't -10C !!

I am sorry about your father in law.

Thank you!

Yes you are correct. Hospitals are completely full right now. He was lucky to have a bed. He did not want to go to the hospital. He thought he could tough it out. China changed their covid policy 180 in December. Everyone I know in China have ALL got covid within last two weeks. Young people are recovering just fine. Old people + people with preexisting conditions may having a hard time. In my hometown, I believe covid has just peaked and things have started to be normal.

Thank you.
Good morning Light - sending you warm thoughts for your father.

How are your chickies doing today?
