Hmmmm....I think you need to look through the book @BY Bob got you. Stance, body type - just about everything is wrong...including tail feathers that are black. Only the big comb is close.

Happy Memory

JD was over tonight and I told this story about Phyllis. He did not bbelieve me so I had to go find the video. It made me happy so I wanted to share that happiness.

I’m doing ok. Trying to cut the pain pills down to three a day to minimize the side effects, and so they maintain effectiveness for after the surgery. I would like to only take them twice the day before the surgery. I wish I could ice it more but don’t have a great way to do it and am dependent on DH bringing the ice packs to me. But he did bring Squeak in from my office to visit me today.

It would be a little expensive but you could lay chicken wire down flat on the ground in areas you don’t want them to dig and stake it down with landscaping staples. The grass will grow up through it but they won’t be able to dig very well.

Ice pack solution we used recently - get a cooler next to you and stock it with what you need for the next several hours (or overnight). Worked really well for me - DH would go get the packs or ice and padded holders, and we stuffed a handy, small beer cooler with enough to last me for awhile.

@BY Bob it seems Aurora has really outplayed you with Mrs By Bob. This is what will happen when women will rule the world.

Leghorns in Europe don't have the same type as in the US., They are sturdier. Many countries have different standards for leghorns : here we have "Livourne" (original sturdy type,) modern, english and american. From Wikipedia : According to the British standard, fully grown Leghorn cocks weigh 3.4 kg (7.5 lb), hens 2.5 kg.
Miss grumpy is probably not a leghorn but she could be crossed.

@featherhead007 I have the same problem. I've bought ton of chicken nettings to make forbidden zones, but the bantams walk through it and Gaston jumps over it. I've been told scaffolding netting also works. The grass only needs about five weeks without chickens to regrow.

Phyllis gets Down and Dirty

There was something that happened the other day which led me to decide to keep the girls contained in the run complex for a while. I don't have time to detail it now but it looked too me sitting in the big run with them the other day. This really doesn't happen a lot unless there is snow which prevents me from free ranging them. So it was an odd situation for the ladies and everyone was adapting.

Phyllis decided to take advantage of my presence and dust bathe right next to my chair. I quickly figured out when when first Aurora and then Lilly came over to root her out of her hole. Well rooster Bob would permit no such thing and I shooshed them away.

Here is Phyllis enjoying her peaceful bath.

Sometimes I think Phyllis forgets how small she is. Watch her shake off the dust and flip herself around doing it. this harpies all the time when she shakes!

Wow that was a mighty shake! I have had my gals do that also (I try not to laugh haha).
