These chickens!
Babs flew up to the rafters but failed to land so fell the 11' to ground.
But now it is getting really dark - and probably darker up there without the windows.
So she decides she won't be able to make it up there tonight and is leaving Eli up there alone.
Bernie was already comfortably roosted in her favorite spot and wasn't paying much attention.
So what does Babs try to do? She tries to take Bernie's spot! So Bernie savages her. And Babs just hunkers down.
Next she tries to cuddle up to Bernie who is having none of that!
Now they are both on the roost maybe a foot or so apart from each other and preening in a way that means they don't need to catch each others eye.
I think everyone is unhappy. Babs is clearly nervous about her bunk-mate, Bernie. Eli is all on her own up in the rafters. And Bernie is grumpy at having her routine disturbed.
Even I am not very happy about it because I am sure this is a one-off event and Babs will be right up there tomorrow night. I just hope she doesn't try to go up there in the middle of the night.
As I said,

Can’t there be peace in our time? What a century we are having! Ww2 Korea, Vietnam, desert shield, desert storm, Russia and Ukraine, and now your birds in the chicken palace! This madness has to end!

You know, I have been thinking about you and the girls. I am SO GLAD you got Babs & Eli. Clearly things were just plain old too boring at the Palace, and you needed a few girls to shake things up and add some EXCITEMENT to your life & the Palace!

The newest planned additions to the gang have been ordered and paid for. 5 Dark Brahmas, and 5 Bielefelders. Huge gigantic chickens to go with my teeny tiny fluffies

Ive been looking into the Brahmas due to your future chicks. Love everything about them, they have been added to my someday list for sure! Bielefelders are stunning

Oh yes indeed. Thank you, thank you, @bgmathteach for ensuring that my life has been so enriched. And I cannot say you didn't warn me about the whole roosting in the rafters thing.
I feel maybe you weren't quite as forthcoming on their propensity to mischief, but maybe I was just too starry eyed by that point!
