Move over!
Everyone wants to roost on top of the nest boxes - sheesh! It's not like there isn't enough room on the roosts, and the shelf, and all the nest boxes - noooo - they want to roost on top of them.... gahhhhh!

I am afraid to check now to see how it all settled.

Well looks like it's still a free for all in there, and Mr P has decided to hog the roost for himself. At least Fluffy and Curly are staying clear, hanging out by the wall. Good Girls!

That is hilarious!

Trying to do the multi quote thing-
I know it was me that introduced that idea but it honestly isn't working for me! I find them difficult to respond to unless they are all on the same theme or responding to the same person.

Think about walking around in your netted areas given the height of the netting, too low will be a PITA. If you put beams across a five or six foot fence top that seems low to me, especially since netting sags.
Yes. This ^^
I find it worse to be needing to be walking head down or bent over than crawling on the ground. Neither is great though so if you can make it easy walking height that is best of all.

I’d drive, as less risk, and probably stress to the birds, and it would be fun!
Quarantine - if you’re trying to do full bio security they say to change clothes and shoes and wash hands at least, probably showering is best, between flocks. Certain things can settle on your hair and then you spread it around. Would be very hard for me to really adhere to!
Agree on driving - singing to them on the way home will be fun. I did full on biosecurity when I introduced Babs and Eli including wearing a tight cap over my hair and changing everything before going to the next group. But I only kept it up for 2 weeks and I did swabs to exclude most of he main pathogens which allowed me to feel more confident shortening quarantine. It was a pain though!

Babs is helping bathe Bernadette’s head!
Oh that must be it. What a good friend she is!
:lau

And finally, thanks for all the thoughts on netting. Most of my chicken area is under a number of very messy trees - stuff accumulates everywhere. I am still thinking netting would drive me nuts.
I am however still pondering how to use the tarp cleats (not sure if that is what they are called) that @bgmathteach posted a while back, together with the cover from my broken pop-up canopy to create sort of a covered porch area for them.
I haven't quite figured how to do that but am mulling it over in my mind.

You stop teasing poor Marty. :old
I am sure she likes it! Right now she is trying to decide whether to stay on her private terrace/roost, or launch herself down and strut around the Hen House.

That is hilarious!
Yes on the one hand it's quite funny, but poor Curly was once again knocked to the floor - it's a long way down for a wee Silkie. She is back up on the roost last night, but Fluffy must be down on the bottom nest box laying an egg.

Oh, little Peeps????? He is handsome, bet they are adorable!!!- But you said he doesn't get to mate the girls? Do you have another Roo, or did you get fertile eggs?
hahaha - maybe he did my suggestion of facing downhill 😅

Well I better get cracking here, it's a balmy -27C (brrrr!), I am glad I plugged Ol Blue in last night. Everyone have a splendid day - I will check in later on :)
