Today when the chickens were out (brrr, it’s cold here right now), I noticed these three (from foreground to background: Buttercup, Little Mill, Roxy) in a row. These are the remaining three from Lucky’s group of six.

So, turns out I was scammed. I am normally as suspicious as they come. However, this place had over 400 followers on FB hundreds of posts and pictures. Site said all the right things. No indication they were not what they appeared to be. I am absolutely mortified. But I am sharing it anyway because I hope as spring chick fever gets us and those close to us, don't forget to be on guard.

So no Brahma pics just disappointment on multiple levels.

So sorry to hear this! How horrible. I don’t understand how people can scam others with a good conscious. Again, i’m very sorry.. How disappointing.

Would you mind sharing the name so we don’t buy from there? If you haven’t already.

I don’t understand either. I’ll wait to post the name until any investigation is done. I was trying to buy locally so unless your in Ohio your probably not going to run across them. They will likely just shut down and restart under a new name anyway. Thank you for the kind words.

nice. I think my fence is 5 feet.

It matter what kind of fence.
If it has a solid landing spot then I don’t think 5’ will deter them. They will fly up and perch on the top and hop down whichever side takes their fancy.
If they don’t see a landing spot they mostly won’t fly over a much lower fence. Mine don’t fly over my electric net fence and it is only 42”.
One way people solve this is by mounting a wire along the top of the fence so it isn’t an attractive landing spot. I don’t know if that works or not - @bymathteach experience with her snow fence suggests maybe not, but I have read stuff on BYC where folk have had success with that.

So last nights drama of Momma trying to get her chicks to roost in the tree is my signal she is almost done with them. I will have roughly a week before she will keep coming to them if they do not roost beside her. Right now I can still work with them and touch them, if she gets them in the tree's I may never be able to easily catch them again. A hard fast decision was made. I was contacted a few days ago regarding them and if I was planning on selling any. I informed them that I would have 3 available, 1 male, 1 female and one that is questionable but still leaning towards female. They will be picked up tomorrow morning. For the time being I am keeping the one I have called a pullet and named Madea when she was about 2 weeks old. Will I hang onto her forever, I do not know. I do know, Momma hen is 9 now and if she hatches her own eggs I tend to get boys from her. If I am ever going to plan to keep a daughter from her just to carry on the bloodline that got us back into chicken keeping now would be the time.
