Yes we are trying to talk her into it I think that is a wonderful plan, maybe Bernie will get all broody and you can shove 3 or 4 chicks under her!

Not sure if Blanche actually laid an egg in there, sometimes she pretends. She hasn't laid an egg in forever so if she is laying eggs again that is new! I wish she would go broody I bet she would be an awesome mama! She is pretty high ranking so the chicks would have an advantage there.

Somebody hatched it....lots of little baby gold balls. Got some gophers around that played through?

Yes I was a wreck with Henny Penny not having hatched out chicks with a hen before - or at all for that matter! Everyone just told me to sit on my hands and let mama do her thing. And she did! All four hatched and she raised all 4 - I still have Rose and Dorothy.

Something is up with Eli. She keeps shouting and trying to get everyone to go back inside the Chicken Palace.
Babs, Bernie and I keep looking around but don’t see anything worrying so we ignore her and she gets even more frantic.
I can’t figure out why she is so distressed.

Keep an eye out - she may see something no one else does. Or maybe she wants to get all broody and wants the others to join her. My gals get all silly before they go broody, sort of like Blanche this morning - sitting and nest building. Or maybe there is a rat in the hen house? She wants to have help dispatching it???

When the newspaper comes out, I will make sure to add a thing saying that you can be featured in the column .

Yes - they do! I was very surprised with Henny Penny - she was incubator hatched and raised by me with no older hens to see how to do things - but she just automatically knew what to do! It was so amazing!
