I think I need a sketch/diagram to understand. Would they go from one shelf to another? How? I think I am not quite seeing it.
Ok - so architect I am not... but this is what I am thinking - along the walls (not just that one wall) I would have a series of shelves staggered. @BY Bob suggested a lower height and that would be likely what I will do - but for now here is what I drew:
- Each shelf would be big enough for a chicken to roost on comfortably, any squabbling and they would be moved to the next one (lower or higher...). I could even have another level under it.

FYI - The dash-line is the 4' height of the wall.... incase you can't read my writing.

Why the different heights? Why not lower and one long shelf. Lower so you worry less about the non-fliers?

I also need to clarify, I'm not posting my musings on Twig to encourage anyone on here to take him. I need need to get my thoughts out loud and warn everyone why I will most likely have to place him. I know several on here like him and did not want it to be a shock if I came on here and announced he had been placed. This change in Bubba and Branch's behavior towards him started about 2ish weeks ago. Bubba now simply hates him and runs him off every time he see's him during the day. Branch started chasing him away about a week ago. Twig is a lover and not a fighter and instead of standing up to the boys which might help his standing, he runs.
That’s why Twiggy is a great rooster. He’s a lover :love

Why do I believe I can outwit a chicken?
I have education. I have life experience. I am practical and have had some moderate success in many things I have tried to do in life.
But none of that is enough for me to outwit a chicken.
Babs is back with Eli up in the rafters and I am curled up next to the radiator in my bathroom hoping that feeling will return to my extremities.

And up she goes ….

Dakota wins this round! I was sitting on my porch watching the animals. Dakota came up and hung around by my feet. I tried to go back inside but she started screaming at me. I picked her up (which is what she wanted) and she’s inside now snacking on some treats. She’s not chased around by the others when she is inside with me. 7BA7615C-D134-4C71-87C5-5D4316E378ED.jpeg

Well - I figured they would then have their 'own' space and just settle down. When I watch them they get all ticked off when they are next to someone, but when they are all alone they just settle down. But everyone wants on top of that one particular nest box.

Henny Penny is smart usually she sleeps on the shelf I put up - tonight though she is lucky enough to snag that one other nest box top. Meanwhile that naughty Rose has Fluffy and Curly pinned at the end of the roost and keeps pecking them - bad Rose! Even though there is LOTS of space for her to move over. Dorothy is smart she just moved down a row and is snoozing nicely.

Marty is smart she has her own little cubby hole which she is safe in.

Well of course haha! She has you very well trained! Good Dakota!

Grandma is considering on buying me a dress. She is too kind.
No, she doesn't spend her time indoors looking through the screen. Just crying for her food and sitting.

I think she might be trying to get on BeakBook! Careful she might order up chicks or mealworms or something other than a dress! :)
