Hmm, gets even more difficult...as it seems there isn't a lot of reliable info on how the Polish was developed. Crested bird came to Europe from one of 3 places, and was further developed to what it is today in the Netherlands. Images of it as far back as 1500s, so definitely an older breed. Barred polish isn't a recognized variety, so must be a more recent development. Will take more digging for sure.I don't know. Suspect googling history of polish barred frizzle or cuckoo may shed some light on it. Barring, white eggs, frizzle, crest, beard/muffs...bit of a puzzle. Barred rocks, Dominiques and cuckoo marans all are barred, but are brown egg layers. Brown is an overlay on white and is dominate, so I don't thing those breeds were used (too difficultto eliminate from gene pool). What white egg layers come in barred/cuckoo?
